AI in Health Conference 2026: Shaping the Future of Care was held Tuesday April 21, 2026, at the Truhlsen Event Center. The AI in Health Conference brings together faculty, students, and staff from all University of Nebraska campuses, Nebraska Medicine, and Children’s Nebraska to explore how artificial intelligence is transforming the health sciences. This free, one-day conference highlights innovative applications of AI in education, research, and clinical care, showcasing the latest advances through digital and print poster presentations and featuring a keynote speaker. Ryan Lee, MD, MBA, chair of the Department of Radiology, was the keynote speaker. Introduction given by H. Dele Davies, MD, interim chancellor of UNMC. Pooneh Bagher, PhD, served as emcee.

Artificial Intelligence has rapidly entered our daily lives in diverse ways, from steering our vacuum cleaners to producing our weather forecasts. It promises tremendous benefits, but also seems to threaten us in new ways, potentially undercutting personal privacy, media authenticity, and even national security. In higher education, the public release of ChatGPT in November 2022 has been seen as a watershed moment, as anyone can use a chat interface to produce remarkably specific kinds of text. In classrooms, longstanding methods of teaching, learning, assessment, and even preserving academic integrity may be transformed. Meanwhile, academic researchers across disciplines are finding that a wide range of AI tools can contribute to analyses and even deliver new knowledge. And AI may even transform how colleges and universities conduct their non-academic business, from admissions to student-services. So, what are limits of AI, technologically? And what are our limits for it, ethically? What possibilities can we imagine for using it and managing its influence, and where or should we put on the brakes?

The Odourless planet
Based on another 80's/90s Cuban Sci-Fi stories. A planet without odour where animals had a regular looking side, and another one there they looked like rotting flesh. When a predator came near their prey one way to trick the predator was to pretend to be dead, showing your "rotting side" up. Since the predator had no olfactory organism, could not tell alived from dead animals. And usually it opted to walk away.
