Artificial Intelligence is becoming increasingly human-like and it is now proficient in a key human activity: musical creativity. But what does this mean? How does creative AI change our notions of art, culture, and society? These are the questions that the Intelligent Instruments Lab explores through practice-based research and critical reflection in the experimental humanities. As new machine learning technologies begin to mirror ourselves, we need to look into that mirror and ask how this is changing us.

2017 Roundtable on Artificial Intelligence - August 6-8, 2017 in Aspen, CO

(l) The onscreen avatar of Simone, Rhanukhan's first known sapient AI. (r) Just one of the many and varied physical bodies that AI citizens create for themselves.

The enormous corporation, Malachite Evolving Enterprises, dominates the Rhanukhani business scene, producing all manner of advanced technology. It was the source of the first Artificial Intelligences, apparently derived from a naturally emergent AI personality on the MEE master computer that had named herself "Simone" (said to be a play on the computer's original title, "Simulated Intelligence Machine #1"), though she had evidently disappeared along with the island of Lehpuhrta at the end of the Worlds War. Rhanukhani law now recognises suitably advanced AIs, both those who occupy machine avatars and those who prefer to remain bodiless within the internet, as full citizens.

ift.tt/2ql3CjO The smart phone market is one of the markets that never stop. Every day we hear about a new phone or a new technology in the field, and it is no surprise that these smartphones occupy an important place in our lives as users. But is the only way to get more performance from mobile phones is to increase the amount of RAM and processor power?

Mobile phone applications, gaming and operating systems become heavier and heavier each year. This is why many manufacturers have invested in artificial intelligence as a means of delivering new tools and ensuring better performance and device independence. According to Counterpoint analysis, one in three smartphones launched in 2020 will have original artificial intelligence functions, a technology that will be present in 35% of the global phone market.

But how can artificial intelligence improve your smartphone? We have separated some points of interest, which, if not currently on your cell phone, will certainly be included in your future device.

Manage applications to improve battery life

Through automated learning, mobile phones will be able to see which applications you use more or less and even when they are most used. Using this data, your smartphone can improve battery usage, close those that are not fully exploited and in the background or maintain the most used applications to ensure better power management.

Smart Assist Systems

Smart assist systems such as Siri, Alexa, Cortana and Google Assistant are marketed and installed on every type of new device, including mobile phones. But these programs may remain very robotic most of the time, requiring you to speak specific terms to perform certain functions.

This aid must take a huge leap in the coming years with the development of natural language processing. This makes computers understand and interpret our way of speaking, which makes communicating with a device closer to our conversations with other people.

Images are perfect for everyone

A good feature of smart phone cameras is that they often improve the process for users who do not have the same skill in photography. These important details also benefit from artificial intelligence, as seen in some recent versions of Samsung, Huawei and ASUS.

Using artificial intelligence techniques, the software of these devices can determine what is framed and determine the best camera mode to capture the image. Although self-cathodic filters, controversial, also benefit from this innovation and are very popular among users.

More security

In addition to security, authentication methods now need to be comfortable. Some examples are biometrics by reading the fingerprints or identifying the face of each up to the device. But an additional layer can be added with the help of artificial intelligence. Using it, you will be able to analyze usage patterns, write speed, and even the power you press on the screen to ensure that only the smartphone owner is authorized to access certain files or applications. via ift.tt/2JpxXGs
