Part of the Artis serie
My kids are having a holiday this week, so it's quality time. What better place than to spend it at the zoo? I took this shot of this wonderful creature with my Powershot camera. It was taken at the zoo in Amsterdam, Artis.

Set of 6 bento poses for Pose fair. Shape included, just in case someone wants it. I packed 3 different chairs inside. The price is discounted so grab it ASAP ♥
Great Carolus Linnaeus in 1758 took his description of Scarlet Ibis from Mark Catesby's (1682-1749) marvellously illustrated Natural History of Carolina, Florida and the Bahamas. I rather like Catesby's drawings of plants but find his birds a bit stiff, and his description of Guará is rather bland too, with several 'pale red' and 'dirtier red' designations to describe feathers and feet of our Bird. Guará, the native name, comes closer to the mark for it means something like 'decoratively feathered'. The Neolatin designation 'Eudocimus ruber' could be taken as: Gloriously Red or perhaps Scarlet. And I think Arthur Cleveland Bent (1866-1954), the great encyclopedic North-American ornithologist, in 1926 does Scarlet Ibis - even the one in Amsterdam's Zoo - more justice when he waxes eloquent: "Words are wholly inadequate when it comes to describing the scarlet ibis in its native surroundings." In fact, I've tried often to get good photos in the Zoo but in brighter weather they just white-out. The other day though was about as glum as today, and Bird was bright enough all of itself. Whether it was happy in the chill is another matter...
Some things just look better Large and on BLACK…… Enjoy!!!
This has to be one of the most difficult shots I’ve ever made.
I thought it would be easy but boy was I wrong. They don’t stand still, not even for a second and they are as quick as lightning. This is the best I could manage and the only real good one. But I love a challenge and I’ll try again real soon.
Have a great weekend
