One of my artworks for the past exhibition at Raging Graphix Gallery.

The artworks are showed now at my new Art Gallery THE EDGE.

Thanks to my partner Eli Medier for his poem:

"Occiduous sun

ancient reflex

of things lost at east

and never sought again

Another pointed the way

the great mountains

illusory ocean

But I went west

across the desert

A mess

of probable days

of possible futures

Knowledge

has not extinguished

the astonishment

At the end of the journey I saw

there was no direction

but only time

and the magic of words

Lost sunsets

in the glass of my window"

I was so sorry I missed the opening of Lori Bailey's exhibit at The Lost Unicorn Gallery but so glad I got to go see it. Her beautiful, dreamy pictures always evoke such a feeling of serenity in me. The only question left is which one am I taking home...

The Martu Artists

Martumili Ngurra (This is all Martu’s Home) presents the Martu peoples’ homelands, including the Great Sandy and Gibson Deserts. The six artists who collaborated on the work all live or have strong family associations with the remote community of Parnngurr, located 370 kms east of Newman in Western Australia. The painting includes sacred sites, waterholes, and pathways that are integral to Martu life, whilst also recording the impacts of mining and modern pastoralism.

Artists from the Martu communities in Western Australia are renowned for their collaborative works, reflecting their deep knowledge of the land and ancestral stories. These impressive paintings serve an important role in the education of younger generations, ensuring culture is preserved. They depict the desert landscape in intricate detail, mapping significant cultural, social, and ecological sites, as well as sharing geographic information and instructions on caring for Country. These works are the result of collective processes where older and younger artists come together to paint, share stories and sing, passing down Martu knowledge to future generations.

Kalyu was painted as a protest against uranium mining exploration near Karlamilyi National Park in Western Australia. It depicts a fragile ecosystem with vital underground water systems, illustrating the interdependence of each of the elements and reflecting a deep cultural and ecological connection to Country. Kalyu is a powerful statement for the preservation of the desert environment.  The painting documents the landscape from below the ground up to the surface of the earth.

[We] painted to save it from the uranium mine…and to tell them there is an underground stream…There’s no water on the surface to keep the dust down. That’s why we painted this big painting, to tell them and to teach others about the water system in our land. —Ngalangka Nola Taylor, 2014

seen in Yaletown at a small art gallery.

Friedrich Wilhelm Schadow (Berlin, September 6, 1788 - Düsseldorf, March 19, 1862) - Portrait of a Young Roman Woman (Angelina Magatti), (1818) oil on canvas, 94.1 x 78.8 cm - Neue Pinakothek Munich (Temporarily at Alte Pinakothek Munich)

As one of the first Nazarenes to hold a prominent position, Schadow played a key role in transmitting Nazarene ideas to subsequent generations of artists. Schadow's painting style was oriented toward the Old Masters of the 15th century and Old German and Netherlandish painting, in line with the Lukasbund. However, his works are distinguished from the more formal and linear art of the other Lukasbrothers by their strong fidelity to nature and a distinct coloration.

!☺☺ ENJOY your summer holidays and be creative ☺☺!

Pieter Hugo is a photographer who primarily works in portraiture and whose work considers the role of photography between documentary and art traditions with a focus on peripheral communities. He lives in Cape Town

Bartolomeo Schedoni (Modena, January 1578 - Parma, December 23, 1615) - The Maries at the sepulcher (1613-1614 approx.) oil on canvas 200 x 281 cm. - from the Capuchin church of Fontevivo - Galleria Nazionale Parma

The painting was placed in a compartment to the right of the high altar in front of the Deposition, even if their measurements show a discrete dimensional difference. In fact, however, this scene represents the continuity of the previous one and further proof of the executive mastery that Schedoni achieved, as the apex of his career, in this unitary undertaking for the Capuchins of Fontevivo, commissioned by Ranuccio I Farnese.
