Still lovin' on the horse....he didn't seem to pay as much attention to me as he did to his food, LOL!
Funny thing about the shirt I'm wearing: I bought that shirt at another art fair 2 years prior, and it wasn't till year 2 that I realized that the tie - dye design on the front looks like a big bullseye....oh well. ;)
We had a blast at my first excursion into the world of art fairs. My tent looked a little ragged compared to some of the professional setups around me but people seemed to appreciate the photos. Here are some highlights:
1. A farmer from the Steptoe Butte area looked at one of my prints and said, "Hey that's my house." He gave me his card and invited me to join him on the combine during the harvest.
2. I sold a print to John Stockton's brother. Maybe he'll show it to John and before you know it I'll be the official photographer of the Gonzaga Bulldogs.
3. We sold a lot more than I anticipated, and I say "we" because everyone in the family took their turn at selling.
4. I saw a lot of acquaintances who said, "I didn't know you did this." It was fun to share this artistic side of my life.
5. I met someone who read my book (Year of Plenty) and he was there with his dad who also just happened to be reading my book last week. He also mentioned that he was at a recent wedding that I presided over. He get's the award for experiencing all the different creative facets of my life. Hopefully he's better off for it.
6. I regularly heard people meandering around the tent saying something like, "I think this is that minister from Millwood." I tried to listen in anonymously to see if I could get any juicy gossip on myself, but nothing materialized.
7. I had fun explaining how I took certain shots, and got good at defending myself against "Photoshopping" my pictures. Next time I'll wear a T-shirt that says, "No, I didn't photoshop that bluebird into the sunflowers."
8. I enjoyed sharing the stories behind the pictures, many of which were taken during chemo and radiation treatment. It's encouraging to look back and see that my sojourn in the wilderness of cancer left me with many beautiful signposts from the journey. The first two canvas prints to sell were from Manito Garden, which were taken during my first photo venture after starting chemo.
Thanks for everyone's encouragement along the way.

Just an interlude in my stream to allow us to journey back to our youth. These young ones were fascinated by the potter's craft, and just stared and stared. Haven't you?
Lightbox please.
