The Karl G. Jansky Very large Array (VLA) is a radio astronomy observatory located on the Plains of San Agustin, about 50 miles west of Socorro, New Mexico. It comprises 27 25-meter radio telescopes in a Y-shaped array.
I took this shot as part of a night photography workshop offered in connection with the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge Festival of Cranes (www.festivalofthecranes.com/), which was held November 17-22. It was a great workshop, and I met photographers from all over the world.
The workshop was run by professional photographer Roman Kurywczak (www.roaminwithroman.com), a great guy and a terrific photographer. If you have not visited the VLA, put it on your list. It is otherworldly! The VLA was featured in the 1997 movie, Contact.

Pitangus sulphuratus (Great Kiskadee / Bichofué gritón)
The Great Kiskadee is one of the larger and more showy tyrant flycatchers and exhibits an array of interesting behavior.
Unlike most tyrant flycatchers, the Great Kiskadee freely displays its bright crown stripe. When especially excited, it erects its yellow crown feathers, forming an ephemeral crest.
The Great Kiskadee’s total range extends from south Texas through Mexico and Central America to central Argentina. It is found on some Caribbean islands, e. g. Trinidad, and has been introduced to Bermuda.

The shades of the windows of a highrise building in the CBD of Brisbane create a red geometrical array on a somewhat overcast day.
Wright-Locke Farm has an array of bee hives near the flower field, so the blossoms are often abuzz. I'll have to try some of their honey!
I was driving on US Hwy 84 and was basically chasing the edge of a storm which started to produce a wonderful array of light scenarios. I saw everything from rainbows to lightning to these crepuscular rays.
I didn't think much of this picture when I took it and it was one of the last ones that I processed from the entire shoot. In hindsight I wish I had bracketed the exposure to get better detail in the highlights. I also wish I had done a timelapse of the rays moving across the landscape. Oh well...
