This is by a talented artist who I never heard of. I was looking through an art book recently and when I saw a photo of something similar to this and I realized it was her work. Niki de Saint Phalle passed away a few years ago but left quite a legacy of work. Mostly of art sculptures in garden settings.
Seriously how many more sheep puns can I come up with? I feel sheepish now. To promote and be part of Armory Arts Week for the first time, the Times Square Arts Alliance has placed five sculptures in the middle of things. This is one of the works, Counting Sheep by Kyu Seok Oh.

The Red Room by Allison Berkoy. I am trying to think of the perfect description for her work but it is so unique the words do not come easy. I would say dark whimsy, but a piece like this one seems just dark. The man/mannequin in the foreground spoke in a deep voice and the girl would giggle while repeating a phrase the man says that made it seem she was professing her love. Then she would giggle again. This description doesn't seem to do the piece justice. It may be on her website, then you can judge for yourself....

I am really behind in posting. Too many things going on. I guess it could be worse, there could be nothing going on. These were from Armory Week a month ago at the 2011 Fountain Art Fair. Hope everyone had a nice Easter!
