While walking through the gardens at the Arboretum in Arcadia, CA, I stumbled upon this interesting composition.
Ein Arboretum (lat. arbor „Baum“) ist eine Sammlung (nicht in Pflanzgefäßen wachsender) verschiedenartiger, oft auch exotischer Gehölze; dies kann beispielsweise ein botanischer Garten sein, in dem hauptsächlich Bäume und Sträucher angepflanzt werden. Man spricht von einem Fruticetum, wenn nur Sträucher angepflanzt werden. Werden in einem Arboretum nur Nadelgehölze angepflanzt, nennt man es Pinetum.
Nach der elften Edition der Encyclopædia Britannica von 1911 wurde der Begriff zum ersten Mal von John Claudius Loudon im Jahr 1838 in einem Buch über Bäume verwendet.
Ein bedeutendes, an raren, auch ausländischen Bäumen reiches – heute untergegangenes – Arboretum zu Studienzwecken schuf bald darauf in Deutschland Eduard Petzold als Parkdirektor des Prinzen Wilhelm Friedrich Karl von Oranien-Nassau in Muskau (vgl. seine Schrift Arboretum
Visited Bodenham Arboretum last Sunday 19-02-2017 .As its early Spring there is not a lot of growth just but its not all about the trees here ,there about 10 lakes/ponds ,a working farm ,some lovely walks and a very nice restaurant.......Bodenham Arboretum nr Kidderminster,Worcestershire England

Well after all these architectural and industrial pics, a capture is called for that mediates between culture and nature. This is the start of an Arboretum Trompenburg mini-series.
Trompenburg is a landscaped botanical garden (8 hectares) with a large museum collection of trees, shrubs, perennials, bulbs and tubers. As part of the Hortus Botanic Guardians, the garden contributes to the conservation of tree and plant species and the biodiversity of Rotterdam. Trompenburg houses a unique collection of oaks, over 700 different rhododendrons, the national hosta collection, and more than 100 varieties of holly and has been around since 1850.
