Wond'ring aloud --

How we feel today

Last night sipped the sunset --

My hand in her hair

We are our own saviours

As we start both our hearts beating life

Into each other

Wond'ring aloud --

Will the years treat us well

As she floats in the kitchen

I'm tasting the smell, yeah

Of toast as the butter runs

Then she comes, spilling crumbs on the bed

And I shake my head

And it's only the giving

That makes you what you are

Jethro Tull

Track 5 on Aqualung

Produced by

Terry Ellis & Ian Anderson

It occurred to me as I took this photo that I did the ink drawing of Aqualung when I was 17 which means it's 51 years old, which means it's an antique, which means I'm 18 years older than an antique!! :(

Be careful what you hope and you pray for,

you know you only get what you pay for.

And I can hear the ticking of timebombs

The clock strikes,

it's midnight,

for poor Cinderella...

Re-posted with respect for Memorial Day weekend.

Whenever I get to feel this way

Try to find new words to say

I think about the bad old days

We used to know

Nights of winter turn me cold

Fears of dying, getting old

We ran the race, the race was won

By running slowly

Could be soon we'll cease to sound

Slowly upstairs, faster down

Then to revisit stony grounds

We used to know

Remembering mornings, shillings spent

Made no sense to leave the bed

The bad old days they came and went

Giving way to fruitful years

Saving up the birds in hand

While in the bush the others land

Take what we can before the man

Says it's time to go

Each to his own way I'll go mine

Best of luck with what you find

But for your own sake remember times

We used to know.

People, what have you done

Locked Him in His golden cage

Golden cage

Made Him bend to your religion

Him resurrected from the grave

From the grave

He is the God of nothing

If that's all that you can see

You are the God of everything

He's inside you and me

So lean upon Him gently

And don't call on Him to save you

From your social graces

And the sins you used waive

You used to waive

The bloody Church of England

In chains of history

Requests your earthly presence at

The vicarage for tea

And the graven image you know

With His plastic crucifix

He's got him fixed

Confuses me as to who and where and why

As to how he gets his kicks

He gets his kicks

Confessing to the endless sin

The endless whining sounds

You'll be praying 'til next Thursday to

All the Gods that you can count

To me, you're strange and you're beautiful ♥...

Aqualung's plan of casing the Manor House for "New Shinies" didn't go quite to plan. Looks like they 'bit off more than they can chew' ! :D

You'll hear me calling in your sweet dream,

Can't hear your daddy's warning cry.

You're going back to be all the things you want to be

While in sweet dreams you softly sigh.

You hear my voice is calling to be mine again,

Live the rest of your life in a day.

Get out and get what you can

While your mummy's at home a-sleeping.

No time to understand

'Cause they've lost what they thought they were keeping.

No one can hear us in your sweet dream,

Don't hear you leave to start the car.

All wrapped up tightly in the coat you borrowed from me,

Your place of resting is not far.

You hear my voice is calling to be mine again,

Live the rest of your life in a day.

Get out and get what you can

While your mummy's at home a-sleeping.

No time to understand

'Cause they've lost what they thought they were keeping.

Sunstreaking cold, an old man wandering lonely,

Taking time the only way he knows.

Leg hurting bad, as he bends to pick a dog end,

He goes down to the bog and warms his feet.

Feeling alone, the army's up the road,

Salvation a-la mode and a cup of tea...

Aqualung my friend, don't you start away uneasy?

You poor old sod, you see it's only me...

Stand and deliver!

I'm the dandy highwayman who you're too scared to mention

I spend my cash on looking flash and grabbing your attention

The devil take your stereo and your record collection! (oh-oh)

The way you look you'll qualify for next year's old age pension!

Stand and deliver your money or your life!

Try and use a mirror no bullet or a knife!

I'm the dandy highwayman so sick of easy fashion

The clumsy boots, peek-a-boo roots that people think so dashing

So what's the point of robbery when nothing is worth taking? (oh oh)

It's kind of tough to tell a scruff the big mistake he's making

Stand and deliver your money or your life!

Try and use a mirror no bullet or a knife!

And even though you fool your soul

Your conscience will be mine

All mine

We're the dandy highwaymen so tired of excuses

Of deep meaning philosophies where only showbiz loses

We're the dandy highwaymen and here's our invitation (oh oh)

"Throw your safety overboard and join our insect nation"

Stand and deliver your money or your life!

Try and use a mirror no bullet or a knife!

And even though you fool your soul

Your conscience will be mine

All mine

Qua qua da diddley qua qua da diddley

Qua qua da diddley qua qua da diddley

Stand and deliver your money or your life!

As the dawn sun breaks over sleepy gardens

I'll be here to do all things to comfort you.

And though I've been away

Left you alone this way

Why don't you come awake

And let your first smile take me home.

The shadows in the park were longer yesterday

And Lady Luck stood still, waiting for the kill.

And on a jumbo ride

Over seas grey, deep and wide

I flew for heaven's sake

And let the angels take me home.

Down steep and narrow lanes I see the chimneys smoking

Above the golden fields - know what the robin feels

In his summer jamboree.

All elements agree

In sweet and stormy blend

Midwife to winds that send me home.

In the shuffling madness

Of the locomotive breath,

Runs the all, time loser,

Headlong to his death

He feels the piston scraping

Steam breaking on his brow

Old Charlie stole the handle and

The train it won't stop going

No way to slow down

He sees his children jumping off

At stations, one by one

His woman and his best friend

In bed and having fun

He's crawling down the corridor

On his hands and knees

Old Charlie stole the handle and

The train it won't stop going

No way to slow down

He hears the silence howling

Catches angels as they fall

And the all-time winner

Has got him by the balls

He picks up Gideons Bible

Open at page one

I think God He stole the handle and

The train won't stop going

No way to slow down

No way to slow down

No way to slow down

No way to slow down

No way to slow down

No way to slow down

No way to slow down

No way to slow down

No way to slow down

With the vampire dispatched and the village back to normal again , the Town Council were over the moon and awarded our heroes with a decent sized bag of coin and an all expenses paid week at up market Netherwood. Aqualung tried his hand at fishing, while Mary practised busting out her dance moves all day in her new dress.

As a bonus the Council while not being able to offer them the manor house which Aqualung had tried to pass off as his own having swiped the deeds, (along with a sizeable stash of vampire shinies) did offer a property that they had in a quaint village 20 miles away ….. Called PENDLE HILL ! ...Check back another time ...I think our heroes adventures, while over for now may not be at an end.

There's somethin' wrong with the world today

I don't know what it is

Something's wrong with our eyes

We're seein' things in a different way

And God knows it ain't his

It sure ain't no surprise

Livin' on the edge

Livin' on the edge

Livin' on the edge

Livin' on the edge

There's somethin' wrong with the world today

The light bulb's gettin dim

There's meltdown in the sky

If you can judge a wise man

By the color of his skin

Then mister you're a better man than I

Livin' on the edge

You can't help yourself from fallin'

Livin' on the edge

You can't help yourself at all

Livin' on the edge

You can't stop yourself from fallin'

Livin' on the edge (everybody, everybody)

Tell me what you think about your situation

Complication, aggravation is getting to you

If chicken little tells you that the sky is fallin'

Even if it wasn't would you still come crawlin'

Back again

I bet you would my friend

Again and again and again and again and again

Tell me what you think about your situation

Complication, aggravation is getting to you

If chicken little tells you that the sky is fallin'

Even if it was would you still come crawlin'

Back again

I bet you would my friend

Again and again and again and again and again

Something right with the world today

And everybody knows it's wrong

But we can tell 'em no or we could let it go

But I'd would rather be a hanging on

Livin' on the edge

You can't help yourself from fallin'

Livin' on the edge

You can't help yourself at all

Livin' on the edge

You can't stop yourself from fallin'

Livin' on the edge (everybody, everybody)

Livin' on the edge

Livin' on the edge

Livin' on the edge

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Livin' on the edge

You can't help yourself from fallin'

Livin' on the edge

You can't help yourself at all

Livin' on the edge

You can't stop yourself from fallin'

Livin' on the edge

Livin' on the edge

You can't help yourself

You can't help yourself

Livin' on the edge

You can't help yourself at all

Livin' on the edge

You can't help yourself

You can't help yourself

Livin' on the edge

You can't help yourself

You can't help yourself

Livin' on the edge

Say hello to the night

Lost in the shadows

Say hello to the night

Lost in the loneliness

Say hello to the night

Lost in the shadows

No one knows

I can't wait, I can't wait, no

When I see little lights in the shadows

One must hide when the sun gets higher

I don't know what this madness means

Here comes the night, the bedroom in shadows

Candlelights, I don't know where it's coming from

But I, I keep moving on

Till the darkest thought makes me want to try these wings

Say hello to the night

Lost in the shadows

Say hello to the night

Lost in the loneliness

Say hello to the night

Lost in the shadows

No one knows

Loneliness pours over you

Emptiness can pull you through

Did you go to sleep with the light on?

I can't wait for this feeling to free me

Wind blows hard, but it doesn't matter

'Cause when the sun goes down

Nothing else matters, the line is where the night lies

I will wait outside her window tonight

Say hello to the night

Lost in the shadows

Say hello to the night

Lost in the loneliness

Say hello to the night

Lost in the shadows

No one knows

Loneliness pours over you

Emptiness can pull you through

Did you go to sleep with the light on?

I can't wait for this feeling to free me

Say hello to the night

Lost in the shadows

Say hello to the night

Lost in the loneliness

Say hello to the night

Lost in the shadows

No one knows

.....And Mary sees her Prey !

--------------------------------------------

Dogs of war and men of hate

With no cause, we don't discriminate

Discovery is to be disowned

Our currency is flesh and bone

Hell opened up and put on sale

Gather 'round and haggle

For hard cash, we will lie and deceive

Even our masters don't know the web we weave

One world, it's a battleground

One world, and we will smash it down

One world, one world

Invisible transfers, long distance calls,

Hollow laughter in marble halls

Steps have been taken, a silent uproar

Has unleashed the dogs of war

You can't stop what has begun

Signed, sealed, they deliver oblivion

We all have a dark side, to say the least

And dealing in death is the nature of the beast

One world, it's a battleground

One world, and we will smash it down

One world, one world

The dogs of war don't negotiate

The dogs of war won't capitulate,

They will take and you will give,

And you must die so that they may live

You can knock at any door,

But wherever you go, you know they've been there before

Well winners can lose and things can get strained

But whatever you change, you know the dogs remain.

One world, it's a battleground

One world, and we will smash it down

One world, one world

Thou shalt not kill

Thou shalt not die

Cry!

Last fire will rise

Behind those eyes

Black house will rock

Blind boys don't lie

Immortal fear

That voice so clear

Through broken walls

That scream I hear

Cry, little sister! (Thou shalt not fall)

Come, come to your brother! (Thou shalt not die)

Unchain me, sister! (Thou shalt not fear)

Love is with your brother! (Thou shalt not kill)

Blue masquerade

Strangers look on

When will they learn

This loneliness?

Temptation heat

Beats like a drum

Deep in your veins

I will not lie

Little sister! (Thou shalt not fall)

Come, come to your brother! (Thou shalt not die)

Unchain me, sister! (Thou shalt not fear)

Love is with your brother! (Thou shalt not kill)

My Shangri-Las

I can't forget

Why you were mine

I need you now!

Cry, little sister! (Thou shalt not fall)

Come, come to your brother! (Thou shalt not die)

Unchain me, sister! (Thou shalt not fear)

Love is with your brother! (Thou shalt not kill)

Why you leaving me now?

There must be some doubt in your mind,

Can't you open your heart?

Don't want to be left behind.

Another attempt at star trails. Taken outside Alexandria in the farm lands where there was less light pollution. This one was shot for 45 min at 30 sec interval pictures.

Resolution on this one is fairly low considering treating a file with 90 layers is heavy on the CPU. In result I reduced the file dimensions to accelerate processing times.

Don't you hate boring people ? The one thing I fear most when going out to socialise is running into someone who is boring. Not because I personally won't be entertained by what they have to say, although that may very well be the case, but because the conversation that ensues is excruciating.

They Go on and on and on and on and on and I feel like a dentist pulling teeth, searching for something interesting about them or their lives. Nevertheless, I have had no choice but to arrive at one conclusion: boring people are boring, plain and simple; no matter how many teeth you pull, they will still sound boring, but with a lisp. You WILL tell me if I am boring you, won't you ? ;)

Have you seen the writing on the wall?

Reaching out for you it calls

Have you seen the writing on the wall?

Did you look for your cause?

Writing on the wall?

Life, I'm told's a compromise

Lethargy in disguise

Excuses by the faint of heart

Stuck in the mud before they start

I say sir, wouldn't you rather be on top of the world

As opposed to always travelling underneath the ground?

Have you seen the writing on the wall?

Have you seen the writing on the wall?

Reaching out for you it calls

Have you seen the writing on the wall?

Have you seen the writing on the wall?

Aqualung, Strange and Beautiful

Taken shortly before first light, the frozen waters around Vestrahorn cracking and moving with the incoming tide as the early morning sea mist rolled across the base of the mountain. A much longer exposure than the previous image with pretty much only one chance to catch this transition before my position near the edge of the ice became untenable. Within 15 minutes, this scene had completely changed and we were shrouded in a dense white fog, all sound deadened.

It’s not perfect- I would have liked to have been a few more steps forward to separate the reflection of the mountain top from the edge of the ice flow a little more. But it was quite chilly. And I hadn’t packed my swim goggles.

Strange and beautiful.

Jasper taking in the beauty at the Phoenix Desert Botanical Garden.

Unfortunately, every time I see Jasper sitting on a park bench, the lyric from Jethro Tull's Aqualung runs through my head. The lyrics are a bit dark for Jasper's personality. But I try not to let my mind go past the lyric "sitting on a park bench"

As I did walk by Hampstead Fair

I came upon Mother Goose

So I turned her loose

She was screaming

And a foreign student said to me

Was it really true there elephants and lions too in Picadilly Circus?

Walked down by the bathing pond to try and catch some sun

Saw at least a hundred schoolgirls sobbing into handkerchiefs as one

I don't believe they knew I was a schoolboy

And a bearded lady said to me

If you start your raving, and your misbehaving

You'll be sorry

Then the chicken-fancier came to play

With his long red beard and his sister's weird, she drives a lorry

Laughed down by the putting green

I popped 'em in their holes

Four and twenty laborers were laboring

And digging up their gold

I don't believe they knew that I was Long John Silver

Saw Johnny Scarecrow make his rounds in his jet-black 'mac

Which he won't give back

Stole it from a snowman

As I did walk by Hampstead Fair

I came upon Mother Goose

So I turned her loose

But she was screaming

Walked down by the bathing pond to try and catch some sun

Must of been at least a hundred schoolgirls sobbing into handkerchiefs as one

I don't believe they knew I was a schoolboy
