One of the privileges of my job is to see many interesting places in Europe and beyond. Unfortunately schedules are mainly very tight and there is no time to make use of the camera. This week I had a couple of appointments in Belgium in the Province of Oost Vlaanderen. A business partner showed me around in Gent, besides Bruges the second pearl of the area. I enjoyed a great time in this beautiful city.

The hoar frost was beautiful today. It I didn't have appointments and shopping to finish up, I could have photographed it for hours :-)
I would tell you about the things they put me through
The pain I've been subjected to
But the Lord himself would blush
The countless feasts laid at my feet
Forbidden fruits for me to eat
But I think your pulse would start to rush
Now I'm not looking for absolution
Forgiveness for the things I do
But before you come to any conclusions
Try walking in my shoes
Try walking in my shoes
You'll stumble in my footsteps
Keep the same appointments I kept
If you try walking in my shoes
If you try walking in my shoes
Morality would frown upon
Decency look down upon
The scapegoat fate's made of me
But I promise now, my judge and jurors
My intentions couldn't have been purer
My case is easy to see
I'm not looking for a clearer conscience
Peace of mind after what I've been through
And before we talk of any repentance
Try walking in my shoes

I had a medical appointment yesterday in a part of the city I don't normally go to, so brought my camera. Doesn't everyone bring their cameras to appointments? :) I don't remember the last time I was in this mall, but found it very interesting with all the layers, colours, glass and reflections. I tried it in black and white as well, but I liked the purple and the wood, so kept it in colour.
Happy Friday!
I have always loved music and songs, it was my first love in life, and it will be my last love among others, like those closest to my heart.
My inspiration to capture pictures comes from this first love of mine, "music".
Sometimes just instrumental music, but most times there are lyrics to amplify the feeling and mood or message I am trying to convey. Whether it's landscape pictures, or as of recently, I've also started experimenting more and more with avatar pictures, most of my captures are inspired by the music I listen to, and that I love so much, so that being said, my pictures doesn't necessarily have anything to do with me at all.

This week my business activities took me to the Amsterdam area. Thursday I used lunch time between two appointments to visit the open air museum Zaandse Schans. The place is covered with windmills, historic buildings and tools of the last couple of centuries. The perfect weather made the stay a pure pleasure, I can highly recommend to visit the area.

I have so much fun doing these. I keep trying to expand and grow my talent.
I quit my job. Between the job and doctor appointments I was only existing and not enjoying life. My B&B is doing well and growing, so I'll have that income plus my retirement. I will miss the big bucks but I'm OK with it all

The Hidden Language of theRoses
The Rose blooms are delicious creatures ! Not just because they are fragrant. Not just because they have magical colours and forms. Not just because the moment you stare at them, you are transferred to other , better worlds. Not just because they have an aura with divine energy around them!
But also, because, the moment you are found in the middle of your blooming garden, the Roses with their blooming blooms, captivate SO much your strong attention, that you… forget to… eat when you are hungry, you forget your tasks of the day, you forget your appointments, your calls!! The only thing you want, is to go very close to them and “see” them with all your being and your senses!! To capture their Divine Beauty, because you know it is ephemeral, like all physical things…In order to have them by your side when the winter approaches, with its loooong dark, cold days, while themselves have already started hibernating until your new rendezvous in the coming Spring…
❤️You can admire here the magnificent Rose bloom of a David Austin Rose : Grace !! Her blooms’ form and apricot color harmony, are especially attractive and original!
Many delayed medical appointments are being squeezed in on weekends which is nice because there are less people.

The first days of this week my business activities took me into the North of The Netherlands. Between two appointments I left the main roads and visited the Lauwersmeer near the village of Oostmahorn. A beautiful location, perfect to relax. Friesland, The Netherlands
I had a long weekend in Stockholm. A schedule full of social visits, work and a lecture to tend to. I managed to squeeze in some street photography in between appointments 😊
I thought I would upload another photo of Royal Roads University. This is the front facade of Hatley Castle. Built in 1908
James Dunsmuir commissioned Samuel Maclure, a Victorian architect, to design the “Castle”, and Messrs. Brett and Hall, landscape artists of Boston, Massachusetts, to plan the gardens and surroundings. Local stone, trimmed by Valdez and Saturna Island sandstone was used in the building’s construction. Its impressive exterior is matched only by the lavishness of the interior appointments; oak and rosewood panelled rooms, baronial fireplace, teak floors, and specially made lighting fixtures. James is quoted as saying: “Money doesn’t matter, just build what I want.”
This is being put on now because the timing is appropriate..
I triple checked and it isn't already in my photo stream. I have (usually ) taken many new ones by now but sadly lots of stuff got in the way. I possibly won't get to my favourite trees in time because of allsorts of appointments between now and Friday when we are going to the land of no internet just -possibly one or two nights but by the time I get back the early blossoms may be over due to wind and rain...taken using my Sony A72 and CZ Pancolar
I've been off Flickr for a few days because of medical appointments and a day to recover. Tomorrow the tick that I took off me is going to the hospital for testing to see if it's carrying any diseases. I've been on antibiotics and hope that I'll be able to go off them soon.
I am visiting Stuttgart multiple times per year and since almost three years I'm planung to visit that place. But my appointments never allowed it. Now it was time. For me , the City Library isn't pretty but definitely impressive. What You see here are only the floors 5 to 8. I can't even imagine how much knowledge is gathered in this building.
I injured my hand the end of August and after a long ordeal of emergency room visits, appointments with specialists, and a pretty major allergic reaction to the antibiotics, I had surgery mid September. My hand is mostly healed and now that I'm able to hold a camera again, I'm ready to take some new pictures.
This was from the summer trip to Grand Teton National Park.

Since it rained all day - again - and I had appointments that kept me from getting out in the field anyway; I dipped into the Leech Lake vault for tonight's photos. As you can see, Minnesota and Iowa share some of the same birds and mammals, such as this vocal black-capped chickadee whistling "here Petie" in the woodlands near Leech Lake.
The first half of this week my business activities took me into the Northwest of The Netherlands to the area of Den Helder to visit customers and architects. Between two appointments I took the time for a quick visit to the coastlien near Julianadorp hoping to spot the iconic shrimps trawler of Captain Iglo. And luck was on my side, he was there. The concept of this shot is from my dear Flickr friend Johanna who has seen the captain far more times. Julianadorp, Noord Holland, The Netherlands
Nothing but white out there for most of the last month! But when the sun shines it can sparkle and glitter wonderfully, and cast blue shadows too. No chance to go much further than the local fields, so the fence is one I've shot many times ;o)
Fence Friday photos set: Here
I'll probably be off Flickr this weekend as we have vaccination appointments amid all this snow and difficult driving conditions! We have fingers crossed that we don't have to re-arrange!!
Happy Fence Friday! and have a great weekend too ;o)

After busy weeks of traveling with appointments in France, Belgium and The Netherlands I used the weekend for a smooth tour with my motorbike. So I fired up the Ducati and drove North, passing the Wiehengebirge to visit some of our iconic windmills between Lübbecke and Minden. The weather was perfect and I arrived at home fully relaxed. Mühlenkreis, Ostwestfalen, Germany
This homeowner is taking ‘Boat Planter’ to a whole new elitist level. I have seen rowboats and canoes made into planters, but this motorboat is a first. It is hard to tell what year it is because all the interior appointments are covered with dirt. I looked up Starfire and they make several varieties ... hard top, soft top, no top and yachts. This is probably a ‘no top’... at least it is now. I’m guessing a model made in the 1980’s. The nice thing about fiberglass is that it stands up to the weather. I am afraid they are going to try to steal the market away from my ‘Garbage Truck Planters’, which frankly are not selling too well. Someone spread a wicked rumor that they are trashy.
If you are interested in the flowers, I think the plants are Impatients. Any corrections are welcome. Have a nice weekend.
Common Grass Blue (Zizina labradus)
Knowing we had a busy day with parent teacher interviews for Daniel and Sarah, and a couple of other appointments I had picked some images for today from four years ago. We were home in good time so I went for a quick walk in the garden. This one was feasting on a Daisy and held its wings open so had to be included along with the Case Moth larva.
Happy Wing Wednesday!

I think it thought it was hidden in this tree.
I may be off flickr most of this week. We both have Dr.'s appointments and a lot of other things to catch up on after the freeze.
First challenge of the day is to get up and out of the bed. And to work out what day it is. Ahhh, yes, Tuesday. So what did I have planned, I wonder? Appointments? Nope. Meetings? Nope. Shopping trip? No. Hmmm. Tuesday is fish day, and social gathering to buy fish off the monger when he gets to Salen (He's not just a monger. He's a fishmonger) But we don't need fish. We need milk. Acharacle shop had run dry. Just have to wait till they get milk in on the next delivery. It will be raining. No need to pull the curtains to check. It's still dark. And will be raining anyway. It's January in Acharacle, which means Tuesday is dark and wet and without milk or fish. But there are trees. Lots of them, but not these ones, which are doon sooth, where they no doubt have everything you can imagine from excessive noise and traffic, nasty germs, nastier people, curds and whey, ruts to live in and moan about. Tuesday, such a shit, nothing day. TmT
This week´s business trip took me to The Netherlands and Begium. Wednesday I drove hundreds of kilometers through heaviest rain with full speed only on the windscreen wiper. I got fully wet a couple of times when I left my car for appointments with customers. Honestly I saw no chance to take nice pictures that day but when I entered Oost Vlaanderen for my last meeting the weather suddenly changed to beautiful sunshine. With the last dry clothes remaining I enjoyed a beautiful late afternoon around the coastline between Blankenberge and Zeebrugge as well as an exciting evening in Brugge. Blankenberge, West Vlaanderen, Belgium
As we hit the doldrums, the time before the next migration, I think about Star Saphir, one of the speakers in a wonderful documentary The Central Park Effect. She scheduled her doctor appointments for June and July....
Here is a photo from a Springtime adventure...
You’ve been through so much pain that no human should ever have to experience. And it’s amazing that you’re still here, working so hard to heal and be who God created you to be.

Another of many images I’ve taken from the passenger seat on a drive home from one of my neurofeedback appointments. I never know how these images will turn out as we’re driving down one of the highways or the interstate we travel. This process of making photos of my surroundings as we go to and return home from my appointments really is helpful and calming for me.
Built as a grand cathedral to commerce and leisure and modeled after the 19th century shopping arcades of Paris and London, Spring Arcade is two towers flanking a three story glass enclosed and sunlit bazaar. Spanish Renaissance and Beaux Arts details, unique spacious floor plans, hardwood floors, high ceilings and modern appointments create the ultimate in 21st century sophisticated urban living. 863
This pair of Whooping Cranes epitomize survival and they have become a symbol to me over the years that it is possible to exist in spite of difficult circumstances. When I was diagnosed with cancer with no cure I crumbled on the inside while trying to appear strong on the outside. It took a very long while to grasp the meaning of survivor. I’m still here and so are these whooping cranes even after their species was on the brink of extinction. To honor their strength and mine I make the annual trek to spend time with them. They stand together wearing transmitters for their well being to be monitored just as I have regular appointments for the oncology part of my life. Before each appointment there’s a quiet anxiety that you try and push down wondering if the other shoe will drop this time. My latest scan was encouraging after a sideways detour in 2021. I am grateful for being able to see the cranes this year and grateful for the support and care of my medical team as well as faith, family and friends and hope and pray we will meet up again next year.
......maybe not so little.
The Strata Center at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts, designed by Frank Gehry.
Gehry is a world renowned....and sometimes controversial.....architect, whose style defies categorization.
There seems to be no unifying theme, and often his structures appear to be collapsing in on themselves.
And they are fascinating, imo.
ps....the back side is even more spectacular. So is inside.
But this was the best vantage point to try and capture the whole thing.
I'm on a bit of a whirlwind here lately......a good one, but busy.
I spent 5 days visiting friends in Boston. We walked everywhere, for literally miles and miles.
The last afternoon, my friend had "busy work" to do, so I went over to Cambridge to see this structure and the MIT campus.
Got home last night, had appointments all day today, and am leaving Friday for another 3 days.
In short......I'm way behind on viewing your photos. I'll be catching up slowly, as I get the time.
Hope all is well.
White-winged Triller (Lalage sueurii) male
I hadn't seen the White-winged Trillers along Sneydes Rd on my last couple of visits but heard them this morning. This male obliged by sitting on this branch and then he trilled for me.
I have a couple of appointments this afternoon so will be back to catch up much later!
Happy Wing Wednesday!
Crested Pigeon (Ocyphaps lophotes)
A quick post and run between appointments. Back later to catch up.
Happy Wing Wednesday

In the summer of 2022, a small sensation could be experienced in Upper Bavaria. Class 181.2 locomotives were running in freight traffic far away from their former area of operation, carrying new car transports as far as Freilassing. These were vehicles of the manufacturer Mercedes-Benz from the Bremen factory, which were brought to the port of Koper in Slovenia in order to export them to oversea countries. Unfortunately, the use of the classic Bundesbahn multi-system locomotives from the 1970s, which were taken over by the company Martin Schlünß Eisenbahnlogistik, was only a short-term affair. On 15 June 2022, a DGS 76291 from Freilassing to Regensburg was scheduled to be hauled by the steel-blue 181 204. After the shooting of the outward journey of the loaded train had failed spectacularly a few days earlier due to cloud damage, I was seized by ambition and quickly drove to Straß in the Berchtesgadener Land between two professional appointments. Together with some other railway enthusiasts, we nervously watched the webcam at Freilassing station to see if the train would finally depart. In the end, everything worked out as desired and the 181 204, christened Rügen, could be photographed with its long queue of empty Touax car transport wagons with a view of Salzburg's local mountains.
Newsflash: we’re no longer in the 20th century - which means two things. First, shoulder pads are a thing of the past … and second, there are a lot more contemporary bodysuit options to choose from.
This Nala Designs Zooey two-piece bodysuit is one such exemplary example. Its comfortable looking and flattering appearance, along with its adaptability lends itself to everything from brunches to a night out partying with your friends.
This Zooey outfit certainly makes quite a fashion statement. It complements your frame by accentuating your best assets - like letting your décolletage announce your arrival, with its seductive and elegant looking strapped appointments. Its striped glitter accents add just the right touch of glamour.
Fits: Maitreya Lara (+ Petite), Belleza GenX (+Curvy), Erika, Reborn, and Legacy mesh bodies.
This Nala Designs Zooey Outfit is available at Swank’s "Wild Spring Event" for March 2023.

A beautiful scene I saw and tried to capture as I worked to do my best to stay present and cope with the reality of my past experiences while riding home from a neurofeedback appointment. In this image I see a story I can relate to.
