Six months in the making ...
Roughly six months ago I was looking at my lightrac and TPE apps on my phone and decided to scroll through the year to see when the sun would be rising at the arch in Bow Fiddle Rock in Portknockie. I discovered that the first week in May was the ideal time. This was on my mind ever since....staying 30 minutes drive away from Bow Fiddle I knew it could be possible for me to achieve this shot...with a little help from mother nature. The start of May was freezing cold and even had sleet / snow but with more research into the weather and tide times I calculated that on the morning of the 3rd The sun should be rising at 05:15 with a partially cloudy sky and the tide would be making its way in. So this morning I left my house at 3:45 with an ideal shot in mind. I wanted to create a shot with a sun flare in the arch ....
trying a collage without using an app. It's harder but interesting. These of course are Monarch caterpillars ... and see the tee-tiny little ant in the center shot? How cute is he! Anyway, I've posted too many photos today ... sorry!
Oooopppppppssss ... texture thank you to Kerstin Frank. But I just realized that doing it this way uses her camera information? Hmmmm ... I wonder if I can hide it. I shoot with Nikon? Hmmmm ??
A reworking of a photo I took of a Honey bee on a Lupin flower using my Canon G11 (see below in comments). I coped the original image to my iPhone5 & tweaked it using the Painteresque App. HTT!
I shot this photo near Times Square in NYC with my iPhone6. Then I post processed it with Snapseed and the new Depth Effects app.
-Ok, let the breeding begin. ;)
Scanning the final patterns & cutting out pieces tonight. Still need to figure out packaging, tiny friend/travel companion and new face paint (want to try new colorful eyes).
Avocet taken at Norfolk Wildlife Trust, Cley Next The Sea. I gave in to getting a new app for my iPad and this is my first go at sliding with it.
Abstract shot of orange kayak stored on a beach rack in Cape Cod. Taken with Olympus OMD EM 1ii and processed with Distressedfx, Snapseed and Enlight apps.
This is a collage of my photos of the lonely tree of llyn padarn lake in Llanberis.
It's been featured today on the BBC CYMRU FYW APP or Facebook page in my first language Welsh.
I decided to up the game and purchased a MIOPS Splash kit to control the entire shooting process from an app on my phone and be able to do more than one drop in each shot.
Two flashes, one lighting the bowl with the water with a softbox mounted. The second lighting the background, which started out as blue background but the water drops slowly changed it into a cool looking abstract.
Again, I have just used plain cold water for the shots with no additives or colours. Xanthan gum and food colurs coming up in a future session.
Man, I love that MIOPS Splash thing. Awesome gadget. It takes some tinkering to get the settings right and I am positive that I will more or less have to do it all over again next time because of small changes in water temperature, ambient temperature or whatever.

Found this image through a flickr friend just yesterday. This highly modified plane was designed to haul sections of large rocket from the west coast to Florida. It’s first flight was in 1965. Power provided by four turboprop engines. Only one of 5 of these aircraft is still flying.
