This Ape is a White-cheeked Gibbon, photographed at the Chicago area’s Brookfield Zoo. White-cheeked Gibbons are critically endangered in their native habitats in Vietnam, Laos, and southern China.

Came and posed nicely for me. Taken through a window, so not exactly the sharpest shot. But, at least it has a little color. Everything around here is white and various shades of grey these days.

A very common beetle species, which can be found on sorrels (Rumex spp). Due to their tiny size (ca 3mm) easy to overlook.

My friend Peter [left] brought his Ape Calessino along for his visit with us, which is especially fun in the nice, warm weather! Manufacturer Piaggio had brought out a limited new edition of the Calessino for the sixtieth anniversary in 2008 of the busy little bee, one of which can be seen here!

In real life it is not too hard to tell a monkey from an ape, but with plush animals it is a bit harder. It is nice to know apes do not have tails, while monkeys do, so that is wat I keep in mind to tell them apart.
Apes do not have tails, while most monkey species do.
Apes tend to be larger than monkeys and usually have larger brains. Apes also tend to live longer than monkeys. Although monkeys communicate with each other, apes possess more advanced cognitive and language skills. Monkey species include baboons, macaques, marmosets, tamarins, and capuchins. Ape species include humans, gorillas, chimpanzees, orangutans, gibbons, and bonobos.
