This solitary Sequoia tree was not at all what you expect to see alongside a canal in Wales but there it was!
All photos used are my own.
Thank you for taking the time to visit, comment, fave or invite. I really appreciate them all.

This is not a Photoshopped pic - there is a painting on the ground that creates an optical illusion. A lot of people don't notice it, but if you step back and watch the passage from the other side of the street, the illusion is perfect.

Unusual for me to take a photo, process it and post it within 24 hours but I did with this! (do I hear rapturous applause? - no, thought not! hehe)
It's a scene from Stanton Moor in the north of the peak district, a lovely serene place with a real feel feel for ancient history, stone circle, standing stones, burial mounds, etc - and lots of Birch woodland.
This is two side by side shots stitched together and Andyfied - various blurring techniques then I made two copies, slightly bloated one and then merged the two slightly to give it a nice hallucinogenic feel. Finally, two copies again, one colour and and one B&W with a top to bottom merge at reduced transparency just to make sure you see the LSD goblins chasing around!
Created for Glow's "Art and Architecture" challenge.
Had a lot of fun today playing with photos on my iPad while flying over the U.S. on my way to Michigan. The odd spire - that I tripled above - towers over Pershing Square in downtown Los Angeles. I suspect it has a purpose but I have no idea what it is!
One of my attempts at the "Macro Mondays" theme "Onion family".
Shot with a Noritsu "38-60 mm F 4-4.8" (enlarging) lens on a Canon EOS R5.
Euphorbia milii. Crown of Thorns, Christ Thorns. Toxic.
Believed to be the plant used for Christ's Crown of Thorns.
Full frame. No crop. No post processing. Dedicated macro lens.
Two spelling errors right in my title that I did not see until this morning. How embarrassing.
Some houses done with the blur effect in Photoshop Elements 15.
Tutorial here on you tube. This one helped me learn this technique.

It seems that I cannot add this to the slider Sunday group. How weird. This morning I can add to the group.
Happy Slider Sunday
A new company Firefly attempted to launch a much smaller, cheaper rocket last night at Vandenberg Space Force -- unfortunately they experienced (in their words) "An Anomaly" 2 minutes into flight and had to abort the mission over the Pacific Ocean.
Actually check that, significant portions of metal and insulation have actually floated to the ground just east of Santa Maria, now that's a little scary and is NOT supposed to happen.
Starting from the beginning when they delayed the launch an hour it was sort of doomed to failure.
My dictionary defines Anomaly as "Something abnormal; an irregularity" --
Those Texans sure have a gift for understatement.
Log 1.003 : No sooner did i get off of Space Station Goliath, did I meet with another issue. A shock wave of energy ripped through space and an anomaly appeared. My scanners and computer went haywire. I had no way of getting a clear reading on what I was seeing. This must have been what the rumors were about, must have been what the stations computers mentioned. I tried to steer away, but the controls of my ship wouldn't respond. I headed right toward it.
This golden moment was found at the base of Burnet Falls, along the Sunshine Coast. When composing this shot I was thinking of those colored leaves on the tree. How out of season they were considering their Fall colors. We are well into summer so they had to be part of the shot because they are such an anomaly.
If you look closely, you will see a rock behind the main waterfalls. It gives a diagonal line and has a ghostly effect. It is intended to balance with the other rock that is receiving the pounding of water. One has to enjoy the little extras nature will deliver.
Dandelion.
Yep. It's that time of year again. Still looking to take a good dandelion pic. This is the latest idea...
Yey! I did a high key one... not something I find easy for some reason.
Rushed again tonight so just squeezing this in and then making a dash for it. Thanks a bundle though for all your faves and comments :(
For Thursday Monochrome and my 100x Monochrome & Toned challenge - only zillions behind now :)
Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Thursday Monochrome and 100x :)
[Handheld in daylight, in the wild remote lanes of Gloucestershire.
Developed in Photolab for tones and colours, noise control and a bit of clarity trying to get just a little bit of detail on the border.
Retouched in Affinity; sharpened (USM) and cropped. Flipped horizontally - yey!
Converted in Silver Efex starting with one of the High Key variants (some of dark ones looked promising too - perhaps I'll have a go with one of those too sometime).
Light sepia toning.
Light vignette back in Affinity.]

A full size view of the scale here.About 10-15mm in height and the amount of detail that can be captured within a pure water drop.Had to tilt the base so a very large drop would sit nice in the seed head and so it would not snap the stem or fall off, some weight there and have to get it just right. The seed is stuck down with sugar water btw,but glue is just as good.love optics.
Black hole spotted...
