The Burmese name for marionette puppetry is Yoke thé. Its usage usually refers to the local form of string puppetry. Traditionally there are around 26 different marionette characters. This one is Thu-Nge-Daw.

Thu-Nge-Daw (the page boy) is a fat jovial character with hair hair tied in two trailing tresses. He represents a royal page and is described as a jolly fellow who dances all the time. He has circles of Thanakha on his face which makes him sweeter.
