Double Heritage. On Friday, September 30, 2022, Amtrak Train 20 (Crescent) had 2 of Amtrak's anniversary engines for power. P42DCs AMTK 161 (Phase I, 50th Anniversary) and AMTK 145 (Phase III, 40th Anniversary) lead an unusual edition of the Crescent as the consist was reversed to accommodate the presence of the "American View" (AMTK 10004) on the rear. Continuing with more E units. When Amtrak started and PC was allowed to discontinue the daytime westbound #53, the only time we could see any passenger action across the Pennsy in daytime was if the Broadway Limited was later enough to show up after sunrise. Such was the case on this sunny day in April 1978 when the Broadway was late enough to get some sun on the curves descending Big Run Hill between Orrville and Wooster near Geyers Chapel Rd.

Leading the train is the Phase iii wrapped 662, I was happy when I heard this train had the 662 as 137 usually gets good late afternoon light this time of year. While Amtrak isn’t my favorite railroad, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to shoot this engine in the sweet late afternoon light.
