Screw construction from power amplifiers. Exhibition of music and light. Moscow city. September 15, 2018
Meg is the latest addition to the house, a 1710 piece Lego construction that Joseph gave to me as a present and helped to put together last night.
She's seen here being checked out by Yan who got a Dreamies treat as his reward.

Captured in the far north of Norway, near Leknes in Lofoten. An extraordinary display this night, even for being far above the polar circle. The bands were pulsing over the mountain, almost resembling a stereo amplifier.
"The mountain photographer is interpreting the face of nature - that mysterious infinity, eternally a refuge, a reservoir, an amplifier of spirit; a mother of dreams; a positive though elusive voice in whose depth lies its subtlety."
-- Cedric Wright, 1941
I do not claim to be a "mountain photographer" per se, though I had looked forward to this particular morning at this particular place for many a year, always putting it off, never capitalizing on the idea. Recently I was corresponding with a Flickr contact whose work and sense of adventure I admire, and she was interested in places to visit near Denver / Boulder. I suggested this view might be worth the effort, and ended up joining her, a friend of hers, and a friend of mine for a full-moon hike up into the mountains to witness sunrise. Here, the Diamond, the 2400 ft. east-facing wall of granite below the summit of Longs Peak (14259 ft.), is lit up by alpenglow and reflected in the perfectly still water of Chasm Lake (11823 ft.). It was a magical morning.
On a historical note, the first summiting of Longs Peak was by the famous one-armed Civil War veteran himself, John Wesley Powell.

Tung-Streng (Cambodia) - One of the few leisure activities that the inhabitants of Tung-Streng can enjoy is swimming in the Mekong.
Another free activity for the population: outdoor collective gymnastics sessions to local rap or techno, at full blast. When I hear amplifiers spitting out these kinds of decibels I immediately turn on my heel and walk away as quickly as possible. I have fragile eardrums. This is why I only offer a beach photo. And then collective gym sessions are rarely photogenic.
Here is a glimpse into one of our power amplifiers for worldwide shortwave communications. This one uses a pair of 3CX1200A7 electron tubes and could produce some 5kW output power. Unfortunately, the maximum power club stations in Austria are allowed to radiate is 1kW. So we are patiently waiting for the rules to be changed ...

50CA10 which is medium size triode tube is adopted as output pipe. 50CA 10 has a low internal resistance, it is a compact long type vacuum tube with excellent bare characteristics.
For output transformer OY15 type adopted for LQS SQ38FD / II etc is used.
My latest DIY amplifier. This one is powering a Dayton Audio Titanic MKIII 12" subwoofer in a custom enclosure. The amp is good for about 700watts (peak, not rms) and will shake the floorboards!

1975
My first true stereo. In 1975 self-purchased at the local Technics dealer. To this day in good shape and so it sounds.
