Bought this Amazon from Tony Barrett (The Old Volvo Guy) when he was at South Service.
This car was a import from South Africa and was in for a service before trying to sell it. I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time...
Amazon parrot is the common name for a parrot of the genus Amazona. These are medium-size parrots native to the New World ranging from South America to Mexico and the Caribbean.
Most Amazon parrots are predominantly green, with accenting colors that depend on the species and can be quite vivid. They feed primarily on seeds, nuts, and fruits, supplemented by leafy matter.
Many amazon parrots have a remarkable ability to mimic human speech and other sounds. Partly because of this they are popular as pets or companion parrots, and a small industry has developed in breeding parrots in captivity for this market. This popularity has led to many parrots being taken from the wild to the extent that some species have become threatened. CITES treaties have made trapping wild parrots for the pet trade illegal to protect wild populations. [read on]

[weiterlesen]

Cotococha Amazon Lodge is located on the shores of the Napo River. The Napo River is one of the major tributaries of the great Amazon River.
In the evenings and mornings you can enjoy breathtaking views of sunsets and sunrises, which colour the skies, waters and the Amazon rainforest.
Because the Napo River has a low water level, you can take a refreshing swim or simply relax on the small sandy beach. The shore is also used as a dock for Cotococha's canoe, where several of Ecuador's Amazon tours depart.

Lucky is a Double Yellow Amazon. Double Yellow Amazons are highly endangered in the wild, with less than 8000 left. Lucky is the last of three siblings that have already been hand raised and sold. He is currently living it up in the huge new cage we got for the Eclectus parents, but are currently taking care of chicks.
Lucky is a great talker already and super smart. As you will see in this photo he has already figured out how to eat out of a spoon completely on his own. When my wife had just finished feeding Pippin, and needed to put him away, Lucky jumped down and took charge of feeding himself.
