O teatro foi inaugurado em 31 de dezembro de 1896, com uma apresentação da ópera "La Gioconda" de Amilcare Ponchielli. Sua arquitetura é uma mistura de estilos renascentista e barroco, com materiais importados da Europa, como mármore italiano, aço inglês e lustres de cristal franceses.

The Teatro Amazonas is one of the most iconic cultural landmarks in Brazil. Located in Manaus, in the heart of the Amazon, its construction began in 1884 and was completed in 1896, during the height of the rubber cycle. This period of economic prosperity allowed the city to invest in a grandiose theater, inspired by the great European theaters.
The theater was inaugurated on December 31, 1896, with a performance of the opera "La Gioconda" by Amilcare Ponchielli. Its architecture is a mix of Renaissance and Baroque styles, with materials imported from Europe, such as Italian marble, English steel, and French crystal chandeliers.
The Teatro Amazonas is not only a symbol of past wealth, but also an active center of culture and art, hosting performances of opera, ballet, theater, and classical music to this day.

Me, my family and some friends went to Amazon and some other parts of Brasil for 2 weeks. We visited a tribe in the Amazon and I drew this plant they grew there, they smashed the seeds inside and made ink to paint their bodies.
