Happiness.

The cover on the website is different so I wasn't expecting this as I opened the parcel. My jaw dropped. So gorgeous. I just sat there stroking it for a while before cracking it open.

Such a fantastic read as well. Though to be honest the art inside is a bit of a let-down.

Fernando Rios Tulumba, manager for Project Amazonas in Iquitos, Peru pilots the hospital boat "Tucunare" up the Rio Mazan. The Tucunare is packed with doctors, nurses, dentists, and volunteers on its way to provide free health clinics to six villages in the Peruvian Amazon. This photograph is part of a solution which provides health care to over 30,000 people in the Amazon rainforest each year. Learn more about what we do at NGO AidJoy.

After dinner on the first full day we headed back out at 9:30pm to go caiman spotting. Our guide was francineto or Franc as he said to call him. He can spot this caiman out from a far off distance. We hall ass down the river with only him holding a spotting light and he waves it around and the driver knows exactly what he wants. Franc gets the boat where he wants it and lays down and hangs over the boat and pulls out a caiman. He did this more than once. I told him to pull in the 6 foot ones but we never even saw those. You know there out there you just don't see them.

The binoculars were very handy on the long boat ride. I saw some amazing birds!

This Amazon was bought from a friend of mine who'd spent a lot of money with Tony Barrett (The Old Volvo Guy).

If memory serves me right I think he had the engine rebuilt in Sweden as he'd planned do some racing...but things changed and he sold the car to me!

It was a quick car, I kept it for many year and only sold it back to Tony when I moved to Canada for a year or so...Tony took the engine out and dropped it in his Amazon.

On the Amazon River in and around Iquitos, Peru

Day 17 - This big guy was losing leaves pretty rapidly, but now seems to have reached a somewhat dormant state. I think I'm going to try some root tabs with it when I make it to the aquarium store, because some of the leaves look like they are longing for an extra boost of iron.
