The walls of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone as seen looking from Artist Point toward the North Rim. The canyon walls are made up of rhyolite (Volcanic rock) that has been altered by hudrothermal activity (Hot sptings). Alteration of the rock gives the canyon its beautiful colors. The traces of several small hot springs can be seen on the canyon wall
A little bit of creative work from me to you.
One of my Bluebells in the woods shote creatively edited.
Dawn's early light spreads across the frosty prairie and a frosty Plains Bison. The catch light in his eye is so large that it almost looks artificial - but I didn't alter it at all.

A bit of a fun shot for Sliders Sunday - the original is the next one in my photostream. Taken at the beautiful Llyn y Dywarchen Lake in N Wales.
Context for the whatizit picture earlier. This is what is called an ‘altered book’ or a book safe. It’s created by gluing together the pages of a book, then carving them. The most common are just carved out rectangles. People could put treasures inside to keep them safe and place the book on a shelf in plain sight.

Old Elbe Tunnel
The old Elbe tunnel, opened in 1911, was mainly built as a connecting route for port workers. The approx. 500m long tunnel crosses under the Norderelbe, connects St. Pauli with the Elbe island of Steinwerder and can be used by pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles. However, ramps were not built, instead there are large freight elevators and stairs. Since the increasing automation in the port and the opening of the approx. 3 km long “new” Elbe tunnel in the 1970s, the old tunnel has mainly been used for tourism. Cars have been banned there since 2019.

I am a gear head, plain and simple. Spent some time at the local drag races on Sunday. This shot is of an altered roadster about to approach the start line.
