The inflorescence of my kitchen window ledge aloe (Aloe aristata) has finally hit the ceiling (it's a low ceiling). This is a montage of 4 shots with the 100mm macro lens to get the whole height of the plant into the pic.

After years of wondering what this flower is, I finally found out.
It's an aloe flower. (Now somebody will come along and tell me it's something else)

I was a little busy last week!
No time to work on Flickr! I'm back and promised to catch up with everyone as soon as possible!

Aloe species are frequently cultivated as ornamental plants both in gardens and in pots. Many aloe species are highly decorative and are valued by collectors of succulents. Aloe vera is used both internally and externally on humans as folk or alternative medicine. The plants can also be made into types of special soaps.

I like the colors, and the shapes.
Thanks for looking! Isn't God a great artist?

Abstract of an Aloe plant by focusing on its shadow instead of its leaves. It is lit by 4 precisely positioned halogen bulbs, equally separated. I heard it is also called sometime a kitchen light fixture, but hey, that doesn't sound as cool... I really like the repetition and the pattern created by the different amount of shadows intersecting simultaneously ( 4,3,2,1 in order)

I quite like Aloes, their flowers are pretty, and their fleshy bushes produce a gooey gel that has wonderous medicinal qualities. Every garden should have at least one Aloe, a natural medicine chest whose flowers attract the birds and bees.
