I appear to have found the only Robin with a peanut allergy.... Or maybe it doesn't like this brand of peanut butter.

I asked lil unicorn if he wanted to take an allergy tablet before we went out exploring today, and he revealed to me that unicorns don't have allergies ... of any kind! Wow! I always thought I was a unicorn (naturally) but hearing this made it clear to me that I am not. I live in the south, land of perpetual warm/hot weather, including my oft bragged about mild winters. And for this reason, there is always something triggering some sort of pesky allergy attack ... that said, I'll take my mild winters any day over the blizzards that many other places deal with. And I'll keep my Benadryl supply topped up!

This is my first photo taken with my new Nikkor 200-500 mm lens. Impressed so far.
This is a male pine tree that produces pollen on the little buds you see here. The pollen is released giving you nice yellow stuff all over your car and makes its way to the pine cones on the female pine tree. Nice for allergies!

Both my wife and I have been having running noses since last week. When we walked across this canyon, we figured out why.

Spring in the southwest brings allergies, lots of wind, more wind, and even more wind, high temperatures one day and cold and maybe even snow the next. It’s also time to pull weeds and weed whack and we all love our tumbleweeds, don’t we? But spring also brings new growth and flowers galore filling our hills and mountains with beauty and life. So, avoid the thorns and needles and enjoy the gorgeous flowers decorating our landscapes and pray for a great monsoon season with more green and other color
ELS 501 sits north of Green Bay awaiting a down tree to be removed on a warm summer day. The tracks are covered in a weed called ragweed on the ELS mainly between Crivitz and Green Bay making for some mighty sinus problems.

In spite of the high count of tree pollen in our area, we dared to venture out to a nearby arboretum to enjoy the first weekend of spring with its beautiful, sunny weather.

As you may know, Jimmy has allergies to all sorts of unknown things and is currently having severe reactions. I took these pictures the day before yesterday when I brought him to work. He'd already had a long-acting steroid injection three weeks earlier that was supposed to give him some relief for three months. He got a second, shorter-acting steroid injection that day. So far, there is possibly a little improvement to his skin but not as much as any of us were hoping for.
The area between the ears and the eyes is a common place for cats to have lesions associated with food allergies. I have recently added wet food to the cats' diet because I'm trying to help Jimmy and Mack lose weight to decrease their chances of becoming diabetic. Food is something I've tried to control very carefully for most of their lives specifically because of Jimmy's allergies to who-knows-what, but because of a miscommunication, I thought the wet food we were adding had already been "tested" in the past and hadn't caused any problems for him. This turns out not to be the case. Cross your fingers that something as simple as cutting out all food other than the Hill's C/D and T/D that Jimmy has been eating for years will be the solution to this latest allergic reaction!
I inserted the close up of Jimmy's sores so you wouldn't have to see them full size. The lesions are between the eyes and the ears which is why you don't see them when looking at Jimmy straight on.
Only recently started suffering with these nasty allergies Omg don't they make your eyes run, your nose itch and then someone gives you flowers, you smile politely say thank you then and dash for the antihistamines and a box of tissues lol

This shot is actually of what will hopefully turn out to be an allergy preventative. If you've been following my stream for the past couple of weeks, you've likely picked up that I've been under the weather - sore throat (to the point I thought it was strep), congestion, cough, etc.. This has been going on for two+ weeks! As the congestion seemed to be going deeper into my chest and I was starting to worry about pneumonia, I paid another visit to the doc yesterday.
He ordered an x-ray just to be safe and everything came back clean. And he concluded that I've likely been dealing with an upper respiratory infection brought on by allergies. Enter the local honey.
A friend shared that an allergy-sufferer friend of hers started eating 1 teaspoon of locally produced honey daily and her allergies all but stopped; when she moved to a different state, she did the same thing with the same result. The premise is that ingesting honey produced from local pollens helps the body develop immunity to those same pollens during allergy season. On the surface, this makes sense.
So, old wives tale or truth, I'm game for anything at this point. I've never been an allergy-sufferer, but obviously something changed this spring and I'm ready to meet it and defeat it. Not sure how much honey I'll need to ingest to allow the body to develop a fortress, but going to give it a go with the hope that next spring is less eventful.
