Previously unpublished street portrait from London, England, captured in February 2019.
My own selection and black and white edit of a street portrait captured during a shoot for an advertising campaign. Shots were captured while under interview to 'candidly' capture natural emotions and under specific technical remit. Lit with natural light and a reflector held by an assistant member of the team. At Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, Ray and I visited 'Textile Art and More' in the exhibition room, by a group of artists who collaborate with Alison to showcase their work. I loved all the colours, designs and textures: pictures, pinnies, cases for glasses, covers on books to write in, greetings cards and indeed much more.
We chose a picture of tall silhouetted trees; I also liked a fabric piece among the unfinished dyed squares going for a song. Somehow I had picked up a sample, not for sale, but Alison agreed to let me take it.
It did lead to a little conversation and she spoke about her craft work as her passion and her life, and her joy when anybody is moved enough to acquire a piece to have in their home.
She was happy to stand in front of one of her pieces so I could take a portrait.
Alison's studio is located on the edge of the New Forest in a building which was formerly a dairy and a cheese factory. She also gives talks - “My life in stitches” - and organizes workshops there, and at other venues.
For her, exhibitions are an opportunity to meet new people and share her enthusiasm. In 2018 she used a body of her work at 'The Knitting and Stitching Show' to depict the difficulties in her past life which resulted from her dyslexia.
An interesting and lovely encounter: my thank you and our goodbyes exchanged, we left for our usual walk around the gardens.

It was just about this time last year that Alison's Adventures and I were in Fiji and captured this sequence on photo and GoPro. Got enough underwater photos to last me a lifetime ... and topside shots too.

The Alison Louise, a trawler that has been sitting at the harbour in Glencaple for nearly 10 years. It had been brought here for repair but has caused a lot of concern that nothing has been done and its gradually rusting away, being nothing more than an eye sore to the village.Glencaple near Dumfries.
Common names: Alyssum, Sweet Alison, Sweet Alyssum.
Botanical name: Lobularia maritima, syn. Alyssum maritimum.
Family: Brassicaceae.
Taken in the Mountainside neighbourhood of Gordons, Bay, Western Cape, South Africa.

Alison is a 'nice' girl. Pretty with and likeable, but she can be stubborn when she wants to be. Alison is not overly clever or rich but she comes from a good home and is growing into a good girl.
Alison is a loyal friend to Alex. Her genuine concern for him has meant she’s been frustrated with him on a number of occasions for not telling the teachers he was being bullied, and has now made him promise not to let history repeat itself. Last year Sammy and Alison became firm friends.
Throughout her school years Alison is set to become the secret target of many girls’ jealousies and certain boy’s affections!
