Just see how cool she looked at me !!!

;-)

Another shot done with the 400mm from far far away, and again, the sensation of something "alien". The place looks more shot in a movie of Ridley Scott, than in the italian mountains.

GRACIAS AMIGOS...

THANK YOU , MY FRIENDS ...

Jayne the avatar insists that

she's been abducted by aliens.

Julie the actual person confesses:

Abducted? ✘ Doubtful.

But Taken? ✔ Definitely.

In fact, for more than 35 years.

Same man. 💗 Lucky me.

The landscape may look extra-terrestrial or familiar to you. As dramatic, striking and unique as Badlands National Park sounds, it offers a perfect background for many movies, just to name a few:

Nomadland (2020)

Armageddon (1998)

Starship Troopers (1997)

Thunderheart (1992)

Dances with Wolves (1990)

Badlands National Park:

With the extreme temperatures (hot in summer and cold in winter) and lack of water, the exposed rugged Badlands National Park got its name from the Lakota - "mako sica" or "land bad".

The French-Canadian fur trappers called it "les mauvais terres pour traverse" or "bad land to travel through" - summers are hot and dry, winters are cold and windy, there is very little drinking water and the land is hard to travel through.

Today, the term ‘badlands’ has a more geologic definition - soft sedimentary rock clay-rich soils that are extensively eroded in a dry climate by wind and water, resulting in a topography with sharp spires, gullies, and ridges.

The unforgiving landscape makes it a great place to visit but this is not the kind of place that many would like to call home.

As always, I appreciate your visit and support and wish you a very happy Monday; be safe and be well!

An alien was right there! I've made a very strange discovery when post-processing my photo. During the whole time I’ve been in this spot (a couple of hours) I was being attentively followed and observed by "something". You can see its eyes and profile if you augment the image and observe the ground in between the trees (about 8-10 meters from where I was standing). Most certainly the “alien” was a fox or some other small animal… Anyway, it’s weird! Being observed from so close (and being unaware of it) from something totally unknown…

This is the first star trail I’ve ever made. Star trails are done when shots include, on purpose, the stars movement. This one is the result of stitching 50 long exposure shots in post, to create that beautiful effect (100 shots or more would be even better but that became impossible, when morning light came up into play to disturb my plan…).

It was taken last year at 4.30am on a new moon night at Alqueva (Alentejo region, Portugal). Alqueva is Europe’s certified biggest (and best) dark sky reserve. The flooded area resulting from the construction of the Alqueva dam originated the largest artificial lake in Europe and the inexistence of sizable cities or even small villages in its surroundings, created ideal conditions for astrophotography. It is considered to be the darkest area in Europe.

looks like an exploded alien :-)

Photo prise à l'Institut du Monde Arabe. Paris.

My take on a popular view of Wizards Hat near Bandon Oregon.

Saucer-shaped water towers loom over a housing estate in Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo, Ireland.

Unbelievable details in this blossom. You can not see this with your eyes. It looks so fluffy and soft, but extremely fragile when you zoom in!

Please comment if you like it!

I like mists, they add mystery to any view. And I like the transformation of the well known places into something you see for the first time. The building that you've passed many times before looks like an aliens' space ship. Can't wait until any distortion of the reality in our heads will be blown away:-)

No alien from space... but Nigella damascena

They look like flying saucers on a stick..

This Iris opening in the sunlight was like an Alien creation emerging into the light.

Title sums this seed pod up I think. So just what could it be??? They are real and about an inch long. They are an invasive species and I found these along the Hudson River in New York State. This image seems to have remained dormant waiting for just such a venue as this weeks Happy Macro Monday theme, Seeds - HMM!! Well that didn't work out, the group closed at 8:00 PM ET WTF....

Dedicated to one of my dearest and oldest friend www.flickr.com/photos/adelmann/ , Andreas, what could i say my friend, i'm speachless...i think, a big thank you...

Beautiful photos and person, check him out!!!!!!!!
