The Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA has it all; beautiful lines, fine details in all the right places and the brawn to match. It is so well balanced in a clean and uncluttered package that it might just be the very spirit of the ultimate classic sports car. The track spec editions embody a mash up attitude of carefree practicality and track-dedicated aggressiveness and have always been timeless to my eyes. Here you’ll find a favorite Alfa livery example run through the filter of my 5w Toon style.

The 1600 GT Junior was introduced in 1972 filling the gap between the GT 1300 Junior and the larger-engined 2000 GTV.
The GT Junior has a tight suspension and weighed in at just 2,050 pounds (930 kg) for the 1.3 variant. Because of this, the car would often go onto three wheels, lifting the inside front wheel off the road when driven enthusiastically.
From 1974 on, the GT 1300 Junior and GT 1600 Junior were rationalised into a common range of models with the 2000 GTV and were rebadged as 1.3 GT Junior and 1.6 GT Junior, sharing most of the interior and exterior features with the larger-engined car. The only exterior differences were no bumper over-riders, lack of C-pillar green serpent badges, Apart from the engine size, the only mechanical differences were: smaller front brakes, as the Juniors had not adopted the larger units fitted to the 1750 GTV and 2000 GTV from 1968 on

De Quadrifoglio Verde (tegenwoordig zonder 'Verde', want 'Groen Klavertjevier' is toch wat dubbelop) kent een rijke geschiedenis en is onlosmakelijk verbonden met het Italiaanse merk. Autocoureur Ugo Sivocci was in 1923 de eerste man die besloot om een afbeelding van een klavertjevier aan te brengen op de motorkap van zijn racewagen, een Alfa Romeo RL, tijdens zijn deelname aan de Targa Florio. En het klavertjevier staat natuurlijk voor geluk. Ugo won dan ook talloze races en sindsdien is het klavertjevier niet meer weg te denken van Alfa's. Ook andere rijders van het Alfa Romeo team besloten dit gelukssymbool te gebruiken, zoals Antonio Ascari, Giulio Ramponi en zelfs Enzo Ferrari. Geluk was helaas van korte duur voor Ugo Sivocci, want op 8 september 1923 (dus nog datzelfde jaar) sloeg het noodlot toe en kwam Sivocci om het leven tijdens het testen van de nieuwe Alfa Romeo P1.
Op vele Alfa's door de jaren heen is dit symbool gebruikt, vaak op de uitvoering met de sterkste motor. Momenteel prijkt het logo sowieso op de Giulia Quadrifoglio en Stelvio Quadrifoglio, maar kan je het logo eigenlijk op alle Alfa's tegenkomen als teken van geluk.

The Quadrifoglio Verde (currently without 'Verde', because 'Green Four-leaf Clover' is somewhat double) has a rich history and is inextricably linked to the Italian brand. In 1923 racing driver Ugo Sivocci was the first man to decide to put a picture of a four-leaf clover on the hood of his racing car, an Alfa Romeo RL, while participating in the Targa Florio. And the four-leaf clover stands for good luck of course. Ugo won countless races and the four-leaf clover has been an integral part of Alfas ever since. Other drivers of the Alfa Romeo racing team also decided to use this lucky symbol, such as Antonio Ascari, Giulio Ramponi and even Enzo Ferrari. Luck was short-lived for Ugo Sivocci, because on September 8, 1923 (so still the same year) disaster struck and Sivocci died while testing the new Alfa Romeo P1.
On many Alfas over the years this symbol has been used, often on the version with the most powerful engine. Currently, the logo adorns the Giulia Quadrifoglio and Stelvio Quadrifoglio, but you can actually encounter the logo on all Alfas as a sign of good luck.

Mijn hedendaagse droomauto? Ja, dat moet de Giulia zijn. Bovenstaand exemplaar in Quadrifoglio-uitvoering, al zou ik al genoegen nemen met een Veloce.
