Arriving from G7 summit in Newquay with president Biden, prior to departing for tea with the Queen.
Caught the big bird on departure from Detroit Metro Airport today. Lucky guess on the runway route for departure. Because of the scenery, this is where I wanted it to happen.
What a fantastic day I had yesterday at RAF Mildenhall! I've been following all the updates from the aviation geeks in the last week to find out where the Air Force One would be landing. It looked like it's going to be Mildenhall so I drove there yesterday lunch time. Really glad I had a chance to photograph this awesome plane! This is the arrival of the plane before it touched down. After that I moved to the other side of the runway to see its departure.
One of the 2 US Air Force VC-25As, extensively modified B-747-200s - called SAM 28000 and SAM 29000 if the President is not on board. (SAM= Special Air Mission) flown by the Presidential Airlift Group, assigned to Air Mobility Command's 89th Airlift Wing, Andrews Air Force Base, Md. Both VC-25s were ordered in FY 1986 under the serials 86-8800 and 86-8900, but these numbers were changed to 82-8000 and 92-9000
