This "beautiful" creature was photographed at The Pond at Elephant Head last year. The way it's done is to set up flashes aimed where the bat is hoped to come in for a drink. the pond itself is tiny, making the target reasonably small. The camera is set to take repeated photographs until the battery runs out and the flashes are set off by a motion trigger. This allows the photographers to enjoy a nice glass of wine or beer and swap stories watching the flashes go off a short distance away. Now that's photography at its best!

Three Tulips, in touch with each other.
Double Tulips, speaking a silent language that I seem to understand.
Wouldn't it be a lovely thought, if I had been a beautiful flower in a 'previous' life?
As a youngster, a loner, I spent a lot of time in Musea, admiring the Flemish Masters, I so loved their light!!! I do aim for it in my photography!
I wish you all a very good day and thank you for all your kind words, time, comments and likes. Very much appreciated.

American Iron and Metals, AIM, is a recycling plant in the north end of Hamilton. Here, their TP90 locomotive shoves back a load of cars in to their facility. The 1936 on the cab signifies the year the company was founded by Peter Black.
Take Aim gratitude challenge. I am grateful for 13 wonderful years with this dog, who passed away Dec 2 at the age of 14. She had a terrific life with us, having been brought from the streets to a home. Rest in Peace, Honey.

(VINCENT / www.flickr.com/photos/58769600@N07/ )
This set aims to capture the beauty & atmospheric street scene with dynamic & blur light at night, which you can sense the unique atmosphere in the air through these dynamic ligths from vivid to blur, from subjective to abstract. The whole set will be divided into "Street scene", "ground", " scene from bus window" & bicycle & motocyle" four topics, and here comes the first topic "street scene".
The National Eagle Center says the average weight of a female eagle is around 10-14 pounds with male counterparts weighing in about 25% less. Eagles in our part of Minnesota are smaller than ones from way up north as in Alaska they can weigh as much as 18 pounds.
Heavier or lighter it is still quite an acrobatic feat to observe one land on the very top of a pine tree like this one who looked like he would not be supported. This particular photo presented me with a lot of difficulties including shooting against the brightness of the rising sun.

Phalacrocorax auritus,
Morro Bay, California
There was a huge mass of marauding cormorants (I estimated ~280! this is part of the group) that I think were silently chanting, "Fish, fish, fish." While I watched they collectively aimed one direction, then later another, but no fishing was done and eventually they slowly peeled off and flew to another part of the bay. An old term for a mass of cormorants is a "gulp." I like that name. I also consider them a gang, much more sinister (from a fish's point of view) than a single cormorant.
