Sunset on the Cycladic island of Santorini.
The chapel Agía Theoskepasti clings to the steep wall on the west side of Skáros-rock below Imerovígli. A wonderful place to enjoy the sunset over the Caldera (05/13/2014, 8:14 pm)

The monasteries of Meteora, Greece, are built on rocks reaching up to heaven. This is the Agia Triada Monastery, which was used as filmset for the James Bond movie "For Your Eyes Only".
Until sunset it was quite busy at the road around the Meteora monasteries. Then, when the sun had set, (almost) everyone left and it was a special atmosphere, standing there, watching the artificial light getting brighter than the natural light. I could get some sense how the monks and nuns feel, when the real solitude comes. Some nuns went for a short evening walk on the street and greeted friendly. But almost every tourist was already far away, most of them in the village I guess.

Merbaka (Greek: Μέρμπακα), but officially Agia Trias (Αγία Τρίας, "Holy Trinity"), is a village in the province of Argolis.
The modern church of the Holy Trinity, first built in 1898, was demolished and rebuilt in 1934.
Of more interest is the ancient church of the Panagias built in the twelfth century. Unfortunately, we could not enter.
As a Fleming I read that Merbaka is named after a Flemish monk for William of Moerbeke, a 13th-century Roman Catholic archbishop of Corinth. (Wikipedia).
