With its various stone and sand formations, carved by wind and water, El Valle de la Luna (Valley of the Moon) looks somewhat similar to the surface of the moon. It is located west of San Pedro de Atacama in the Cordillera de la Sal, in the Atacama desert.

What started out as a very overcast day evolved into a light sprinkle of drizzle followed by a sudden burst of showery downpour; and then came the spectacular late afternoon low sun, blue sky and feathery fleece-like clouds. What a feast for the eyes and soul.
Ps. imagine the sound of tyres driving over wet tarmac; the crows squawking and circling for worms and the sound of birds tweeting between the noise of passing traffic.

When I visited Oban, there was a very strong gale which prevented a journey by ferry to Iona :( However, I spent a wonderful day walking in the storm and the next morning, there was a lovely calm and a rainbow :)

The small island of Filfla. About 3 miles off the south coast of Malta.It has an area of about 15 acres and is a crumbling flat-topped limestone plateau surrounded by 200 feet high cliffs. An important sea bird sanctuary.It was used in the past for target practice by the RAF and RN. A type of wall lizard (Podarcis filfolensis ssp. filfolensis) and door snail (Lampedusa imitatrix gattoi) are endemic to the island.
