This is a rescued image. Ariadne was my boat,and this was taken by a friend - I took pictures of his boat too (Also a Rustler 36). His image had a sloping horizon that could not easily be cropped, and the colouring and noise needed a llot of attention.This was a challenge for Serif Affinity!
The approach was to (1) Resize the image to increase resolution (2) correct the noise (Nix define2 - which I find is the easy way of dealing with old jpegs). (3) change hue and brightness (4) Sharpen the bow wave using a duplicated tone mapped layer (5) remove the sky using channel selection. (6) Expand the canvas using the crop tool, (7) rotate the image to straighten the horizon (6) add a new sky (8) Crop the assembled image (9) clone in the missing parts of the foreground (10) adjust final brightness of the foreground,(11) apply an HSL correction to the sky (12) Merge again, then clone out some fringing.
Not a perfect photo, but a nice picture from a difficult old jpeg
By the way, the new owner of Ariadne has her entered in the 2018 Golden Globe non-stop single-handed round the world race which starts in June next year
