Pistyll Rhaeadr, meaning "spring of the waterfall") is a waterfall 4 miles (6 kilometres) from the village of Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant in Powys, Wales and 16 miles (26 kilometres) west of Oswestry.

istyll Rhaeadr is formed by the Afon Disgynfa falling, in three stages, over a 240-foot (73 m) cliff-face, below which the river is known as the Afon Rhaeadr. The tallest stage is estimated at about 40 metres. It is counted as one of the Seven Wonders of Wales and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The 19th-century author George Borrow, in his book Wild Wales, remarked of the waterfall: "What shall I liken it to? I scarcely know, unless it is to an immense skein of silk agitated and disturbed by tempestuous blasts, or to the long tail of a grey courser at furious speed. I never saw water falling so gracefully, so much like thin, beautiful threads as here."

Taken on an incredibly wet morning standing in a lake in Kerry from first light. I was not rewarded with a great shot for the effort but like this for the memory!

15 sec exposure taken from about 800m range in wind with a 200mm lens fitted with a ND8 filter. I was not expecting too much from this but happy with end result.

Crataegus species are shrubs or small trees, mostly growing to (15–50 ft) tall, with small pome fruit and (usually) thorny branches. The most common type of bark is smooth grey in young individuals, developing shallow longitudinal fissures with narrow ridges in older trees. The thorns are small sharp-tipped branches that arise either from other branches or from the trunk, and are typically 1–3 cm (1⁄2–1 in) long (recorded as up to 11.5 cm or 4+1⁄2 inches in one case. The leaves grow spirally arranged on long shoots, and in clusters on spur shoots on the branches or twigs. The leaves of most species have lobed or serrated margins and are somewhat variable in shape. The fruit, sometimes known as a "haw", is berry-like but structurally a pome containing from one to five pyrenes that resemble the "stones" of plums, peaches, etc., which are drupaceous fruit in the same subfamily.

This was taken in 2013 but I never really looked at it at the time. Quite like it though. It was a cold grey day and this catches that well.

Not one of my sharpest images but this one caught me by surprise, and I have not seen one of these before.

The Jersey Tiger is a day flying moth of the Erebidae. The adult wingspan is 52-65mm and they fly from July to September. They tend to fly close to Eupatorium cannabinum (hemp-agrimony), where they are hard to notice because of their camouflage.

Fragaria is a genus of flowering plants in the rose family, Rosaceae, commonly known as strawberries for their edible fruits. There are more than 20 described species and many hybrids and cultivars. The most common strawberries grown commercially are cultivars of the garden strawberry, a hybrid known as Fragaria ananassa. Strawberries have a taste that varies by cultivar, and ranges from quite sweet to rather tart. Strawberries are an important commercial fruit crop, widely grown in all temperate regions of the world.

The broken windows theory, defined in 1982 by social scientists James Wilson and George Kelling, drawing on earlier research by Stanford University psychologist Philip Zimbardo, argues that no matter how rich or poor a neighborhood, one broken window would soon lead to many more windows being broken: “One unrepaired broken window is a signal that no one cares, and so breaking more windows costs nothing.” Disorder increases levels of fear among citizens, which leads them to withdraw from the community and decrease participation in informal social control.
