"Sir, the satellites will be overhead soon, we need to start heading back."
"Then back we'll go Sergeant, no reason to give ourselves away yet. Not for another few weeks anyway."
A few weeks. A few weeks to go, to make up for the last ten years stolen from all of us. Korea, battle of the Yalu, just when the Chinese got involved and damn near threw us off the peninsula. We were expecting it, but we weren't expecting a soviet atom bomb in Seoul, or the follow up attack across the pacific northwest. America fell hard and fast, The President refused to use atomic weapons on US soil and it appeared the soviets didn't want to either. September 5th 1954, the United States of America officially surrendered to the communist aggressors.
For the next ten years, people would skirmish in the streets with the occupiers, try to form rebel cells in the backwoods, take targets of opportunity out when they could, let the reds know they would never be welcome here. The military though was the biggest disappointment to the people. Instead of fighting after the surrender, many of them continued to work their same jobs, just against their countrymen. Some left, joined their own little rebel cells, we hunted them down still. Blood of our friends drawn across our bayonets, and spilled by our bullets.
One month ago, the reds rolled into a small coastal town, eliminated anyone they thought was an active rebel, arrested those they couldn't prove otherwise, whisked them away to locations only their captors knew about. That was the final straw for us. We defected, a third of us, hiding in the hills of West Virginia, small mining town full of patriots willing to help hide us. Somehow they all look up to me, just a Colonel but the highest ranking officer to defect. With the rebel cells in this state willing to feint an attack near Richmond for us, we can secure our position here and move on Virginia Beach, secure NAS Oceana, give our overseas allies a port to dock at. Once we start making progress who knows how many others will join us when they see the progress we can make.
Just a few more weeks.
I was undecided between a Kurt Cobain fig or a Guerrilla soldier. I opted for the second one.
The Fuerzas Armadas Revolutionarias de Colombia was a guerrilla movement founded by Ernesto Che Guevara in 1964.
It fought against the corrupted government in Colombia and is the eldest active rebel group in the world.
To the fig:
-light green Keeper (?) cap with a red star on it
-old Lego Castle head
-light green jacket with a flag of the FARC on the arm, white T-shirt with the Che on it
-Travis Bickle pants because I was to lazy to paint a camo, my fault.
Pretty simple fig, but as always tell me what you think

"'Heart of Glass' is a song by American New Wave band Blondie. Featured on the band's third studio album, Parallel Lines, it was released as a single in 1979 and topped the charts in several countries, most notably in the United Kingdom and United States.
Rolling Stone ranked the song #255 on its list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
'Heart of Glass' was originally recorded in 1975 under the name 'Once I Had a Love,' and was much slower with a blues/reggae vibe to it. The song was frequently performed on tours, then was re-recorded with the same title in 1978, when the song was made a bit more rock-oriented. When Blondie recorded the album Parallel Lines, disco was big on the music scene, and producer Mike Chapman decided to give the song the disco twist that made the song what it is today, and one of the best-known Blondie recordings. For the single release the track was remixed by Chapman with the double-tracked bass drum even more accentuated.
The song was released in January 1979, and reached number one in both the US and the UK. The UK B-side was 'Rifle Range', from Blondie's self titled debut album while the US single used the Parallel Lines track '11:59'. The accompanying music video for 'Heart of Glass' was filmed at Studio 54 in New York City.
The versions appearing on the 7' single issued in early 1979 varied from country to country, some used the regular album version (UK, 3:54), others an edited album version (US, 3:22) and others an edited version of the 12' Disco Mix (4:10), which is the one usually found on current hits compilations like the 1994 anthology The Platinum Collection, Greatest Hits: Sight + Sound (2005) and Greatest Hits: Sound & Vision (2006). For the band's very first hits compilation, 1981's The Best of Blondie, producer Mike Chapman created a special mix including elements from both the 12' Disco Version and the 12' Instrumental (4:33). The 1981 version appears on 2002's Greatest Hits.
Almost immediately after its release, 'Heart of Glass' became the subject of controversy because of its disco sound. At the time, Blondie was one of the bands at the forefront of New York's growing New Wave musical scene and were accused of 'selling out' for releasing a disco song. According to Blondie frontwoman Deborah Harry, 'Heart of Glass' made the band pariahs in the eyes of many of their fellow musicians in the New York music scene. The band was accused of pandering to the mainstream that many punk/new wave bands at the time were actively rebelling against.
There was also the issue of the use of the expression 'pain in the ass' within the lyrics which, at the time, did not sit easily with the BBC. The radio version changed it to 'heart of glass.' In Australia, the song was banned from radio for its 'strong language.'
Despite the controversy, the song was a huge hit and helped propel Blondie from cult group to mainstream icons. The band itself has acknowledged the success of the song in helping their careers and has downplayed criticism of the song, pointing out that Blondie always experimented with different styles of music and that 'Heart of Glass' was their take on disco. The band itself has jokingly taken to referring to the song as 'The Disco Song" in interviews.'" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart_of_Glass_(song)
Once I had a love and it was a gas
Soon turned out had a heart of glass
Seemed like the real thing, only to find
Mucho mistrust, love's gone behind
Once I had a love and it was divine
Soon found out I was losing my mind
It seemed like the real thing but I was so blind
Mucho mistrust, love's gone behind
In between
What I find is pleasing and I'm feeling fine
Love is so confusing there's no peace of mind
If I fear I'm losing you it's just no good
You teasing like you do
Once I had a love and it was a gas
Soon turned out had a heart of glass
Seemed like the real thing, only to find
Mucho mistrust, love's gone behind
Once I had a love and it was divine
Soon found out I was losing my mind
It seemed like the real thing but I was so blind
Mucho mistrust, love's gone behind
Lost inside
Adorable illusion and I cannot hide
I'm the one you're using, please don't push me aside
We could've made it cruising, yeah
Yeah, riding high on love's true bluish light
Once I had a love and it was a gas
Soon turned out I had a heart of glass [radio version]
Soon turned out to be a pain in the ass [album version]
Seemed like the real thing only to find
Mucho mistrust, love's gone behind

Lindum Soldier, designed by Deven Bhurke, it is part of the Lincoln Baron's Charter Trail part of the as part of the 800th anniversary celebrations of the Magna Carta. It was located in front of the Roman Newport Arch, in Lincoln, Lincolnshire.
Almost exactly 800 years since King John put his seal to Magna Carta, Lincoln welcomes a reincarnation of the 25 Barons who signed the charter onto the city’s streets. The Trail sees 25 2m-tall sculptures decorated by renowned artists from Lincolnshire and beyond. Local businesses and organisations have worked with the artists to devise a different theme for each Baron. The finished sculptures will be placed around the city centre, creating a colourful and fun trail for visitors to follow. The Barons were on display from the June 13th for three months before being auctioned with all proceeds from the sales donated to The Trussell Trust, the national food bank charity, which also helps people facing hardship in Lincoln.
This Baron represents William of Huntingfield who was High Sheriff of Norfolk and Suffolk. In the First Barons' War he was an active rebel against King John and one of the twenty-five chosen to oversee the observance of the resulting Magna Carta. He subsequently supported the French invasion of England, and took part in the Fifth Crusade, where he died in 1219.
Deven Bhurke is a professional artist and graphic designer with a versatile style, based in Hampshire. He has previously been involved in various Wild in Art projects, including Go!Rhinos Southampton 2013, BooksAboutTown London 2014, Year of the Bus London and Croydon, GoGoDragons Norwich 2015, and The BigHoot Birmingham 2015.
This Baron is sponsored by The Lincoln Business Improvement Group and Visit Lincoln. Lincoln has a strong Roman heritage and both organisations were delighted that Lindum Soldier reflected that.

Were Close to our objective know. We've only one more obstacle that we know of. Exorcist Worriers. The EC Death Guard Elite, trained from birth. All to many times I've seen these hell guards come knocking on the doors of active rebels to the EC. They are clade in heavy, white armour trimmed in gold with a Black strip down the left side of the helmet. They were armed with the dreaded R445 Pact. Rifle. Equipped with a range of attachments, Brute Blades, Kill Whisperer silencers, Shykaz reflexive sights, Pihara Marksman Scopes. The only universal was the KTR anti-armour grenade launcher. I've seen these guns tear through masses of people in seconds. As we move closer to the governmental building, I can feel fear in my team mates. Governor Hiske has 4 Exorcist's Guarding him. This will be tough. Were going to rest, wait for nightfall to attack. Thats all from me for know. I need my rest.

Day forty-two of The 100 Day Project for 2021.
Frankly, yesterday felt shite.
Today is not feeling much better so far because I'm still awake from yesterday.
What I'd do right now for just one week without some drama, some stress, some misunderstanding, and just an "easy ride". One week in which I felt like the cake in my hands won't explode in my face at any minute.
Yesterday I chose to sketch Henry Moore's The Arch from a photo I took on a walk with my friend, Phil, in 2018. Just because it seemed straightforward-ish, and it was. Thankfully.
Apart from knowing it stands in Kensington Gardens because I photographed it there in 2018, I didn't really know much about it until I Googled it just now.
As often happens for me, the choice was at least somewhat synchronistic.
One of the things I would like to think my sculpture has is a force, is a strength, is a life, a vitality from inside it, so that you have the sense that the form is pressing from inside trying to burst or trying to give off the strength from inside itself...
This quote fits how I think about myself and many other artists I know. A force. A strength. A vitality coming from inside and pressing, fit to burst.
So when that vitality and strength feels like it's being held down, there's a struggle. There's a disconnect. I do not feel myself.
I've had to compartmentalise so much of myself over the decades. Through work, relationships, family, friends, social media. That I now actively rebel against that and struggle with being asked to do it, even if I understand the reasons and, ultimately, respect requests to do so.
Henry Moore goes on to say:
This is, perhaps, what makes me interested in bones as much as in flesh because the bone is the inner structure of all living form.
This compartmentalisation feels like chipping away at bones. Breaking and weakening my foundations. Foundations that take time to repair. To strengthen. So I will resist. Even if, ultimately, I break.
I sketched the sculpture in 4H then went over the outline with an HB pencil.
“The Lindum Soldier is inspired by the history of the Romans, and Lincoln's heritage as a Roman town known as ‘Lindum Colonia’. The design portrays the Roman Lincoln which grew into a large and prosperous town.” - Deven Bhurke
William de Huntingfield
William of Huntingfield was High Sheriff of Norfolk and Suffolk. In the First Barons' War he was an active rebel against King John and one of the twenty-five chosen to oversee the observance of the resulting Magna Carta. He subsequently supported the French invasion of England, and took part in the Fifth Crusade, where he died in 1219.
We thought this guy looked like a rebel and everyone laughed. There is an active rebel movement here in the Philippines but not around here thankfully so I am safe.
Numbers 17:1-6 (ANIV)
The Budding of Aaron’s Staff
1 The Lord said to Moses, 2 "Speak to the Israelites and get twelve staffs from them, one from the leader of each of their ancestral tribes. Write the name of each man on his staff. 3 On the staff of Levi write Aaron's name, for there must be one staff for the head of each ancestral tribe. 4 Place them in the Tent of Meeting in front of the Testimony, where I meet with you. 5 The staff belonging to the man I choose will sprout, and I will rid myself of this constant grumbling against you by the Israelites."
6 So Moses spoke to the Israelites, and their leaders gave him twelve staffs, one for the leader of each of their ancestral tribes, and Aaron's staff was among them.
DRAWING NOTES:
TIME OF DAY:
Unspecified by the Bible narrative. I have set the scene in the mid morning.
LIGHTING NOTES:
The sun (unseen & high in the sky on the left) illuminates this scene, casting shadows to the right & below figures & objects.
CHARACTERS PRESENT:
Six Israelite tribal leaders facing the viewer, holding staffs in their hands.
Two men, with their backs to the viewer, one of which is a tribal leader (the man on the right, with brown turban & staff).
To the right of the scene stands Aaron (brother of Moses, representing the tribe of Levi) with his staff in hand & Moses holding staffs of four leaders unseen in this picture.
RESEARCH/ADDITIONAL NOTES:
This scene shows Moses holding 4 staffs of 4 leaders (unseen in my picture), with the remaining leaders of tribal families in front of him. These men are going to place their staffs in Moses’ arms, after which he takes them to the Tabernacle, as directed by the Lord God.
In Numbers chapter 16 (the story of the rebellion by Korah, Dathan and Abiram) the Israelites were grumbling & complaining, but actively rebelling against the Lord, & specifically Aaron’s priestly authority was been challenged. In chapter 17 the Lord showed all the Israelites that Aaron retained God’s authority to the exclusion of all other claimants. The miraculous budding of Aaron’s staff is the divine proof of Aaron’s unique priesthood position.
In this first scene, the Lord told Moses to get a staff from the leader of each tribe and write that leader’s name on it. Aaron was also to write his name on the tribal staff of Levi. Then all 12 staffs were placed in the tabernacle in front of the Testimony (the cover over the Ark of the covenant, the most holy place) where the Lord would meet Moses and cause the staff of the legitimate priestly tribe to sprout like a tree.
In the background are some of the Israelite’s tents, with Acacia trees behind them. There are some mountains in the distance.
