Title: Ackermann's Repository of arts, literature, fashions &c
Author: Rudolph Ackermann
Publication: R. Ackermann, London
Publication Date: 1828
Book Description: Also called Ackermann’s Repository or simply Ackermann’s, this periodical was published monthly from 1809-1829 and was very popular in London and other urban areas of England. All the colored plates are excellent examples of the aquatint technique, a trend introduced into English illustration printing by Ackermann and popular for decades to come. The plates give fantastic illustration to the fashion of the Regency Period in England, in examples of dress, home décor, vehicle style and architectural elements. Ackermann's was monthly publication, later bound into 6 month volumes (there are 40 total volumes today). This book is a rebound publication of the plates from the periodical, arranged not by periodical but by subject matter. Dates on plates in this book range from 1818-1825.

A great honour to meet Dick Ackermann, a pioneer of the nineteen nineties campaign for clothing manufacturers to produce skirts suitable for mens wear.
Dick is wearing a tweed kilt with knife pleats at the back and I am wearing my four yard box pleated kilt which was constructed in France by Lady Chrystel. Note that my kilt has no belt loops from which to hang a sporran chain and therefore I am wearing a bumbag.
