RKO_3803. How extraordinary is it to watch these beautiful and colorful little birds doing their diving act!
This male Common Kingfisher achieved its goal and had a wonderful, though relatively small, meal!
It was a challenge (and objective) to get some nice shots of the diving Kingfisher and I guess I too achieved my objectives.

MISSION ALMOST IMPOSIBBLE, please image this situation, about 300 hundred of these Geese feeding on the wide-open sea shore mud flats, but too far to achieve a decent photograph , as I approach them in the wide-open, they walk away at the same speed, If I move to quick, they will all take flight. Walking along the water edge, I could see one on its own, and it was walking towards me, and was completely fearless, so I filled up a complete camera card, and went away smiling like a Cheshire |Cat., and thanking God I believe this must be a Juvenile,

Just thought I'd let you know that the BBC has published an article on my photography on their "Get Creative" arts magazine website. They chose the image above as one to spotlight, I originally posted it a long time ago, so I thought I'd use this as an excuse to resurrect it again.
The Article: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/5wWbzZZ93H73HkkHhTl8Yp3...
This was my first ever attempt at macro photography.
For those of you who think the bug was dead, here's the next photo when it wandered off during the exposure:

My least favourite type of weather, is an overcast sheet of white across the entire sky, featureless, boring and annoying, plus seemingly it lasts forever! So, one thing I know when I have perused other photos against such a backdrop, is that they can look like watercolour paintings. This is what I wanted to achieve in this shot.
However, much to my luck, a Bumblebee flew into the shot just as I hit the shutter down and thus, this is the result, I couldn't be happier. The slightly out of focus Bee accentuates to the image I wanted to create, a water painting without heavy software manipulation; sometimes in photography you can just get lucky!
I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you!
I just love this deep pink colored rose, then layered with the lighter, pastel pink, it's just beautiful! Hope you enjoy!

Photographed from the covered bridge over the river right as the three balloons from Quechee Balloon Rides begin their ascent.
Brisk and breezy, but manageable, and not a cloud in the sky, I was out on the lake yesterday, comically trying to accomplish this photo for about 20 minutes as the wind, stronger in the middle of the lake, continually blew me out of position. So it was paddle back to try to accommodate the drift (you can see the wind direction from the waves), reach into my parka for my camera, bring it up to shoot...only to find myself well to the left of the shot. I performed this sequence numerous times, never really achieving the desired "directly into the sun" shot. This is the best I could do before getting completely disgusted...you can see it's STILL left of center...and retreated to the calmer shoreline.
Not many of these days left...every one now a treat before the canoe is brought ashore for the winter.
This photo was a pivotal photo for me. Even though it is not as excellent or as sharp of a photo that I wish, wish, wish that I had taken, I recognize that the experience itself will always be something that I will cherish. How many people can say that they spent a half hour with a Lynx in the wild?
I think that every photographer probably has a “bucket list” of photos they would like to achieve. I too, have realized that I just might have one as well. I would love to photograph the Aurora Borealis, a Lion, an Eagle with a fish, an Owl with it’s supper, Lightning streaking across the sky, BigFoot, (Yup, I think I saw it - but that is another story), a Whale breaching, a Puffin, a Cougar, a Wolf, another Fox (I don’t want to get greedy though), an enchanted forest, deep in the woods with a mist rolling in, and perhaps, a Polar Bear - though I think I am done with bears for a while…
Oh, and I want to drive across Canada and take an amazing landscape that represents each province.
Well, I guess that’s it - for now anyway. Gotta go. My battery is charged and I have so much to see and so little time to get it into my camera…
The use of negative space can have a powerful effect on an image and this is what I have tried to achieve here. I hope that you like it and I wish you all well and thank-you so much for your input and support. Have a great week-end my friends.
11th July 2016 - Carlo Ferrari's Beech G18S 'N45CF. The classic Beech 18 dates from 1937, when the prototype first flew, and achieved great success both as a civil transport and in military roles including light transport and training. Named as the Expediter, it was used extensively by both the RAF and Fleet Air Arm. Not until 1970, remarkably, did the production run end. The G18S variant attending the Air Tattoo is owned by Carlo Ferrari from Switzerland, and appears in a very highly-polished natural metal finish.

Egret normally stay in or near water all the time. But this one is in the woods, an oaktree forest.
Not a bird shooter, but found this snow egret intriguing. It was a distant shot even w/ my Nikkor 200mm, but I used all possible techniques to achieve a pin sharp bird image while blurring surrounding tree branches to present the subject in an Autumn atmosphere.

Although Friedensreich Hundertwasser first achieved notoriety for his boldly-coloured paintings, he is more widely known for his individual architectural designs. These designs use irregular forms, and incorporate natural features of the landscape. In architectural projects he implemented window right and tree tenants, uneven floors, woods on the roof, and spontaneous vegetation.
In the Intro to this cave mini-series, "dusk bat hunters" were mentioned [see "Deer Cave Entry ~ Kick-off Cave Series, Sarawak, Borneo"]
As such, on fine-weather dusks, some 2M+ bats fly out of Deer Cave, searching for insects to eat. The free-tailed bats are hard to see while inside the caves, as they mostly hang from the cave ceilings, sleeping, and are quite small.
The Left Hand Picture in the collage above shows a large stream of bats exiting at late dusk when ii is almost dark, at the end of our first day at the caves. Thus the photo is dark.
The Right Hand Picture shows the exit route for the main bat stream, as taken during the day: i.e. Deer Cave's Main Chamber ceiling hole, with the chamber 122m or 400 feet high from the cave floor. The hole, in also letting in a shaft of light, allows the rich green vegetation to thrive, and is thus referred to as the 'Garden of Eden' by the cave operators.
Other bats exit via a few other smaller ceiling holes depending on where they sleep.
From the only viewing platform outside, which is on flat ground, we saw the main bat stream featured above. Further away, other bat streams flew out of other openings not visible, with the bats very hard to see as they flew out and away.
The picture featured was then the best achievable one given the hilly and dense jungle terrain surrounding the caves.
The scene was amazing to see, and everyone at the viewing platform was excited and loved this unusual nature adventure :-)
This concludes the Cave Series, Hope you enjoyed it. :-)

A Hymn of God's words "Results of God's Work in the Last Days Are Achieved Through the Word"
www.holyspiritspeaks.org/videos/hymn-results-of-god-work/
Introduction
The results of God's Work in the last days are achieved through the word, through the word. The word helps man understand mysteries and God's work throughout history. It brings man enlightenment of , and knowledge of mysteries sealed for centuries. It explains the work of prophets and apostles and the rules when they carried it out. The word makes man know God's disposition, as well as his own rebelliousness and substance. Through these steps of work and all words spoken, man comes to know the work of the Spirit, and know the work of God's incarnate flesh, moreover the entirety of His disposition. Your knowledge of God's 6,000-year work was also attained through the word. Know your old notions and put them aside— was not it too attained through the word? In the previous stage Jesus displayed miracles, but it's not so in this last stage. Wasn't it through the word that you finally understood why you don't see any signs now? The words spoken in this stage surpass work done by apostles and the prophets of the past. Even for prophecies made by the prophets, such results could not have come to pass. The prophets only prophesied what would happen in the future, but not of the work God was to do at the time. They didn't speak to lead man, bestow truth, reveal mysteries, and much less did they speak, and much less did they speak to bestow life. Words spoken in this stage contain prophecy and truth, but mainly serve to bestow life upon man. Unlike the prophecies of the prophets, the words at present are a stage of work for man's life, to change his disposition.

The Greatest Love Of All By: Whitney Houston
I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be
Everybody's searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone who fulfilled my needs
A lonely place to be
And so I learned to depend on me
I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows
If I fail, if I succeed at least I live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can't take away my dignity
Because the greatest love of all is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all inside of me
The greatest love of all is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself, it is the greatest love of all
I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be
I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows
If I fail, if I succeed at least I live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can't take away my dignity
Because the greatest love of all is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all inside of me
The greatest love of all is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself, it is the greatest love of all
And if by chance that special place
That you've been dreaming of
Leads you to a lonely place
Find your strength in love

When I look at this image and see the hardness in it, I think of how grateful we have to be to have health, to have people who love us, family, friends, work ... this man sitting alone with no one around and beside of a church ... how ironic right? I wanted this minimalist image to give more meaning if possible to our life, to raise awareness and be grateful for every moment we have here ... on this little blue planet ...
Please don't feel compelled to comment!
If you read this I will already feel very satisfied and grateful ... I will have achieved something good today!
Have a great day today and may your dreams come true!

It was not only my fifth and final morning, but it was in my final available hour of photographing the beauty of Custer State Park when this lovely lady caught my eye. I had already logged some 3.5 mile of wandering the rolling hills and rock formations in search of a Prairie rattler (another swing and a miss) when I realized that it was time to head back to my car.
As I stood at the back of my car packing away my camera gear, movement caught the corner of my left eye. As I attempted to zero in on the distraction, my mind instantly noticed that of the 50 or so Prairie dog mounds in front of me, not a single dog was up, or alerting on my return…something was very different.
Just as I started to conclude my scan of the area, it happened again. Some 25 yards out, a large amount to dirt was thrown in the air. Something much bigger than a Prairie dog was digging behind the mound, just out of view. Matching the speed of Forest Gump reassembling his weapon in boot camp, I unpacked my largest lens, switched camera bodies and attached my monopod in record time!
It took a while to close the gap a bit because I had to stop every few steps and look through the lens for activity, check settings and be ready to capture a few safety shots. I wrongly assumed that whatever it was, it would disappear into its den the second I was noticed. When she arched her back up, perfectly displaying the unmistakable markings of a Badger, I gasped, gulped and nearly provided a fecal sample instantly!
I took several shots of her back with dirt flying through the air, just in case this would be my only opportunity granted with this bucket listed gift from God. I guess her internal safety alarm went off…or she noticed my need of a shower, but she threw her head in the air, noticeably utilizing her sight, olfaction and hearing…now staring right down my lens.
It was at this point I captured this shot, a personal treasure. Knowing that the 20 or so yards between us was well within both of our comfort zones, I knew she pretty much had three options…dive down into the newly dug den, run away, or my least favorite…jump on my head and eat my face. Once again, I was blessed to be wrong as she chose a fourth option. She trotted away from me another 20 yards or so and started digging again. It was then that I realized she was hunting Prairie dogs, hunger had this normally nocturnal lady out late, away from her den and probable cubs.
The newly acquired distance between us provided much more comfort as she proceeded to hunt, her checks on my whereabouts becoming less and less frequent. It was when she decided to flip over on her back to enjoy a roll in the freshly dug dirt that I knew she was totally relaxed, and I was able to properly sex her. For the record…no photos of her “womanhood” was taken as I did not desire to have them in my camera nor computer…just in case something would tragically happen to me, like her jealous hubby jumping on my head and eating my face! I would hate for my memory to be tainted when “badger parts” photos were discovered in my files!
Several cars passed by, no doubt looking for wildlife…surely noticing me on my knees out in the middle of a prairie dog town. All missing the opportunity of this rare encounter and absolute blessing. I backed away slowly as I did not want to disrupt this mom’s guilty little pleasure, knowing that the hunt probably wouldn’t end until success was achieved.

Alberta has been suffering a heat wave, and so we had to be a bit more cautious on this weekend's mountain adventure. We set out to summit one of the highest peaks in the Kananaskis area, and achieved that. But it was a tough scramble, and so we had to wear rock helmets over our sun-protecting brimmed hats - quite a fashion statement...
Cream and Crimson window decal representing Indiana University. The primary campus (9 total) is located here in Bloomington,IN. My parents, my spouse, my four daughters and I are alumni. My oldest granddaughter will likely enroll for the 2021 freshman class. (I assumed that “Black” is not a color per se. The subject of Black/White as color is debated on the web with no true consensus.) The decal is on a dark rear widow of my MINI which I selectively under exposed to achieve the background.
I rarely take photos with shutter speeds greater than a second. In water motion a shutter speed of a half a second is usually ideal for getting the texture in the water I desire. However some 6 years ago I would often take a image of 30 seconds or more, occasionally to achieve a misty sea more often though it was to create a dynamic sky. Today’s photo is an example of this taken in December 2017. How often do you reach for the ND64, ND100 filters?
Handheld ICM single shot, still working on what impressionist feel I can achieve in camera, no blur/shake is added in the editing all done in camera.
The Great Highland bagpipe (Scottish Gaelic: a' phìob mhòr) is a type of bagpipe native to Scotland. It has acquired widespread recognition through its usage in the British military and in pipe bands throughout the world.
The bagpipe is first attested in Scotland around 1400, having previously appeared in European artwork in Spain in the 13th century. The earliest references to bagpipes in Scotland are in a military context, and it is in that context that the Great Highland bagpipe became established in the British military and achieved the widespread prominence it enjoys today, whereas other bagpipe traditions throughout Europe, ranging from Portugal to Russia, almost universally went into decline by the late 19th and early 20th century.

I wanted to do something to bring in winter, since the season has officially started. This is shot is actually an Infrared HDR that I shot during the day. With the use of Photoshop I was able to turn it into night. Stars and moon were added as well as the darkening of the sky. The Infrared effect and clouds were as is. No textures or separate images from other photos were used to make this.
Hope you all had a great weekend!
