This was a challenge proposed to capture in the first month of a challenge above and beyond the 365 Days Challenge I am doing now for the second year. This was actually a bit of a challenge because I really worked so hard to banish fear from my life, and if I have regrets that would mean that I would go back and change things. If I changed even the simplest of things then I would not have the friends that I have, I wouldn’t have my daughter potentially, and I would not have had things like time with my sister before she died.

Its’ a tricky matter, even just thinking about how you’d go back and change things because the simplest things would alter so much. I really don’t have fears like I once did, but there are some things that do walk the line with both fears and regrets. It’d be interesting to go back in time to do this challenge- back to a time when I was filled with fear. But alas, since I cannot… here is my project for February 2010.

2. Shave by Christopher

Shaving. Okay it seems like a pretty simple thing, but I usually go days at a time without shaving. I can’t really explain why I go so long or even why I hate it. I guess because it’s time consuming and I get nicks in my skin and razor burn. The Texas heat doesn’t help out because the sweat can irritate the skin.

But I have to say that I feel better when I am clean-shaven. I feel more professional at work, and I like the feel of my skin. I find that when I shave and then go swim laps, the chlorine in the water helps dry out the skin. Oh and electric razors tend to burn more than razors for some reason… I have unfortunately overly sensitive skin.

I’d say that these days I shave about 5 out of 7 days… glad this is in my daily routine!

10. Violence by Christopher

I hate violence. I hate war, and have only seen that war was the answer a few times in History. Violence really doesn’t get you anything, and hurting another physically also hurts them emotionally. Most people would say “Someone who says that can’t fight”. Stupid thought to say (and it really re-enforces what I am saying here) but that’s not the case for me. Sorry.

I have rarely gotten in fights, but when I have it was because someone was committing violence against someone else. When I was in college a guy was beating up on a girl outside a party so I stepped in. I was polite and told him he needed to stop, he didn’t like that I took him away from his one sided fight, and I tried to not fight the guy. He ended up in the hospital, I ended up in a cop car until his girlfriend came forward and told the truth (she had originally took his side when the cops showed up out of fear).

Violence is just another tool of fear. It’s stupid and pointless, and I hate it. I can keep a level head, but try to hurt those that mean the most to me, and it’ll be a different story. Even then, I’d rather use my intelligence than a fist to screw someone back…
