This evening (Sunday 20 Feb) at 2 pm SLT, don't miss the opening of "Above and Beyond", Cala Rossini's new exhibition at LX Gallery.
Yesterday I teleported there by mistake, thinking we were Sunday (yes I am absent-minded I fear!) ... and as I was there, I took a shot or two of Cala who happened to be there as well. So, I post this portrait of Cala just for a few hours to remind you of the event :-)

This huge area of tropical rain forest in Johor , Malaysia is over 130 million years old and occupies an area of around 49,000 hectares . It is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna of which many species are not found elsewhere in the tropics .
Look up Endau-Rompin National Park for more details . Try to be there aound May -July and get up early to catch the river boat ride so as not to miss the mist . Put on thick socks and long pants to reduce leech bites when tracking in the jungle .
Whitby Abbey is a ruined 13th Century Benedictine Monastery in North Yorkshire
Sadly, the ruins had already closed to the public for the day, when I arrived in Whitby late on a very cold February evening. But I managed to climb the perimeter wall to get some shots of the floodlit ruins and I had the strange feeling that I was being watched, all the time I was there.
Group of wildebeest staring at the people in jeeps who were waiting for them to cross the Mara River in Kenya. We were down by the river for about four hours and were circled on all sides by wildebeest. Finally a few zebra started to cross but were spooked and returned to shore. After a while longer the crowd of animals broke up and returned to the business of grazing on the grass farther away from the river.
There are two ways visitors can explore the Derwent. You can take a number of boat tours (3 hours, but be careful if crewed by Skipper and Gilligan), or you can take a joyride in the air. These seaplane tours offer incredible views of some of the most dramatic land and seascapes in Tasmania. aboveandbeyond.flights/
The seaplane is a de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver, designed for the many great waterways of North West America.

There is a reception this coming Saturday, December 1st from 2-5pm for a show I currently have hanging at Photolab, 2235 Fifth St. in Berkeley through January 2nd. Come say hey if you have a few minutes to spare.
To sweeten the deal, there is a concurrent reception happening that same afternoon at The Lightroom, another gallery two doors down at 2263 Fifth St.
This was taken last night at the "Teen Arts Showcase" at the Union County Performing Arts Center. Instrumental groups, vocal groups, pianists, dancers and theater performers were selected from the 3,500 students who participated at the 2013 Teen Arts Festival at Union County College in Cranford in March.
These are members of the Hillside High School Dance Troupe. It's one shot, not a composite. The name of the number they performed was "Above and Beyond" hence the title - and how fitting!
They were wonderful, as were all the performers, my middle son being one of them. His school was invited to participate after they auditioned with several numbers from their musical, "The Little Mermaid," which they put on earlier this year.
It was a great night! The amount of talent that was on display was phenomenal.
