… what remains of former Canada Dock. About 2/3 of the dock was filled to create the abominable Surrey Quays Commercial Centre, looming in the distance.
I couldn't believe my fantastic good fortune this morning to finally photograph the mega-rare and almost mythical two-headed deer! This ranks right up there on par with proving the existence of Bigfoot or the Abominable Snowman.
Isaiah 66:1,2
Thus saith the Lord, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?
2 For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

1 Kings 8:44
If thy people go out to battle against their enemy, whithersoever thou shalt send them, and shall pray unto the Lord toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house that I have built for thy name:)
Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. Rom 3:31
Romans 8:3-4 This is Grace
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.

Ephesians 5:5-6)
For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Did some research the character is an Abominable Snowman.
Primate DNA is only five percent different from ours. Like us, they feel jealousy, envy, love, shame, grief, depression... They are very social beings, they are sensitive and each one has a different personality, according to the experts, as happens in humans. They develop tools for specific purposes, which involves reasoning, anticipating the future and acting with the tool. They adopt orphans, which demonstrates social bonds, empathy and altruism. They have self-awareness, cooperative problem-solving and learning by example and experience, so they have symbolic capacity and a culture of their own, which they pass on from one generation to the next. Chimpanzees even surpass humans in certain memory tasks. An ape at the age of two is able to do small sums and use tools, while a two year old does not even know how to do sums or reason the why of the tool. They give pets to their children and they even learn words in sign language, being able to establish a conversation with their caregiver. They are able to teach their offspring sign language so that they can communicate with their caregivers. And so on. And they share a very important trait with humans, a trait not found in any other animal... laughter.
This image is dedicated to Bobby. Bobby was a chimpanzee used for decades as a laboratory animal at the Coulston Foundation in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was born in captivity and at a very young age participated in biomedical experiments. By the age of 19, he had been anaesthetised more than 250 times and biopsied as many times. His life was spent in solitude inside a tiny metal cage. His body was bruised and scarred. In a deeply depressed state, he was incessantly self-harming, a clear sign that he intended to end his life. In 2002 he was transferred to Save the Chimps, a chimpanzee sanctuary in Louisiana, USA. Dedicated to Jeannie. Jeannie was in the service of science for nine years. At the age of six, she began her career in the pharmaceutical laboratories of Merck, Sharpe and Dohme. Shortly afterwards she was donated to the Buckshire Corporation and ended up at LEMSIP, Laboratory for Experimental Medicine and Surgery in Primates in New York at the age of 22. During that time she participated in several invasive experimental protocols including repeated vaginal douching, multiple cervical, liver and lymph node biopsies. She was infected with HIV and hepatitis C, and participated in rhinovirus vaccination protocols. She was anaesthetised more than 200 times. She died at the age of 31 at the Fauna Foundation, Canada's only primate sanctuary. Dedicated to Newt. Newt was born in 1979 at LEMSIP. At the age of four months he was sold to the Southwest National Primate Research Center in San Antonio, Texas. Newt was HIV-positive and was widely exposed to hepatitis B virus. Before he was four years old, he began intermittently self-harming. In 2003 he had his canines removed. Newt's clinical reports indicated that he had bites and lacerations on his hands, fingers, thighs, arms, legs, wrists and scrotum. A psychiatric report determined that Newt was in a profound state of insanity and derangement. He was attempting to commit suicide and end his life. This image is dedicated to all primates who have suffered psychological and physical torture, deprivation of liberty, abominable experiments and death in scientific laboratories, pharmaceutical, automobile, cosmetic, aeronautical, aerospace multinationals... and dedicated especially to Bobby, Jeannie and Newt.

We are the prehistory that will have the future. We are the remote annals of man. These years are the past of the sky. These years are a certain agility with which the sun draws you into the future. They are the truth or the end, they are god. We are left, those who can smile in the midst of death, in full light.

PS: When I look into the eyes of an ape, all I see in them is sadness and eyes that ask me, why, why? And I can only lower my gaze to the ground, while I shed some tears and feel a deep shame... shame of being human... a "Homo stupidus".

This weekend I have been to an Agility competition; and the picture is taken during a break. It was a quite hard competition; it was held in an indoor arena and the ground was some soft sand, which was a challenges to run on; I did not like it and I got a lot of sand in my ears and eyes; and which lead to that I could not win any of the competitions this weekend as it was so abominably; but just wait to next time in two weeks I will go for being on the top of all my competitions again.

Berlin dwellers, beware... because tonight is not like any other night. Tonight the creatures of the night will meet for their first World Congress, the WCDCEN (World Congress of the Dark Creatures of the Eternal Night) held in – Berlin. So better stay at home, lock your doors, close your windows, draw the curtains, and make absolutely sure that the lights will never go out in your house this night... For the harsh, ear-splitting shriek you've heard above you in the sky on your hasty walk home didn't belong to a crow. And the enormous, hunched, ragged and shaggy shadow you've spotted from the corner of your eye wasn't your sloppy neighbour walking his dog...
OK, a clumsy attempt at writing a scary introduction to this image ;) I simply started too late with writing it today, and I wanted to upload this image before midnight CET (and originally I'd only wanted to describe the sliding steps for this image – as far as I remember them – anyway). Just that much: The hotel the WCDCEN has booked for this special night is no other than the seat of the German Government, the Reichstag building in Berlin's Tiergarten (=animal garden) district. One of Germany's largest public gardens of the same name, the Tiergarten park, lies right across the famous "hotel" – and that park is a place one should avoid at night by all means even during normal nights. Well, as I've learned from insider circles, there were some quarrels among the participants beforehand,
because Count Dracula, for instance, is said to have claimed the entire west wing for himself ("This hovel is smaller than the doghouse in front of my castle!") and the vampires allegedly had refused to move into the same floor as the werewolves ("Their bloodcurdling screeching is poison for our sensitive ears!" vs. "Their enormous shedding during their transformation is abominable, the hair is simply everywhere!"). As it seems, creatures of the night are merely humans, too.
This is an image that simply had to be slid for Sliderssunday. Because on the day I had taken it there only had been a boring blue, blue, nothing but blue sky, and my POV had not been exactly aligned, either, it was slightly off-centre. I still liked it, somehow, but never quite knew how to present it in an interesting way; until a few weeks ago, when I stumbled upon it in LR once again, and decided to see how I could jazz it up with all those nice tools that Luminar 4 offers, such as "Sky Replacement" (the clouds), or "Augmented Sky" (the moon and the birds). I also added some drama in ON1 with a texture ("Dirty Screen"), some "Grunge", and cranked up the LR sliders for structure and clarity. Slid to the Max for Halloween :)
Happy Halloween to those of you who celebrate, and Happy Sliders Sunday, too! Stay safe, wear a mask, wash hands, take care!
I may read a little too much into this - and thereby flatter myself - but I think at this moment the lynx seemed rather curious and cautious than self-confident and brave, as though he wasn't sure whether or not he should come any closer. But then again, maybe he was only trying to tell me that it was high time I trimmed my beard again. :o)
Don't get caught with me in the snow... you're liable to find yourself in the midst of a little playful chaos. It usually isn't a problem though. He might look like he was trying to fend off the abominable snow Monster, but I didn't hear any complaining... Besides, it's always nice to sit around a killer fire pit like this one from Vile. Spend a little quality time with good friends, catch up, hang out etc., etc. So really I was doing him a favor by making him the recipient of my snowball ambush! Oh yeah and as an added bonus... maybe he'll think twice about using my head as an elbow rest again...#smallbutmighty Ehh... Doubtful.

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

I wanted to name it The Abominable Snowdog, but Dad said that no one would ever believe there was anything abominable about me.
Dads.
He said this reminded him that in the midst of stormy weather, we can find comfort with each other.
But Dad's a bit old and sappy now.
Personally, I like meeting people and seeing new things, but I like just as well a long walk in a big snow.
Having some with shadows while visiting the "Big Drift", an area of sand dunes within the Wilsons Promontory Marine National Park, Victoria, Australia.
If I had been out there with a shotgun the first time I saw this clump of moss up in the tree I would have blasted it as it hovered up in the branches ready to jump on an unsuspecting passer by. But a long time ago I was trained as a silent assassin and I see these threats in good time. He wouldn't have had a chance. But I see so many shapes amongst the trees it makes me a bit jumpy in there, the place I call Sevonia. Not many people venture in there (You're not supposed to) but I think it strikes everyone as rather special particularly when it is foggy. I would love to experience it in the dark but no way would I venture there in the dark. Bad enough in daylight on my own. For fear of the abominable mossman.

Fortress Inquisitorius was an underwater stronghold located on the moon Nur. It served as the headquarters of the Imperial Inquisitor Program. The existence of the fortress was hidden from the majority of the Empire. In 14 BBY, during the Jedi Purge, a battle took place within the fortress.
The Imperial Dojo served as the training room of the Inquisitorius, allowing both Inquisitors and Purge Troopers to hone their skills. The training was fear-based, dark and abusive in nature, standing in contrast to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.
Jedi and Force-sensitive beings were kept for interrogation, torture and experimentation. Prisoners remained confined here until they met their final abominable fate.
The central interrogation chamber was a torture room where Jedi and Force-users underwent a menacing procedure to transform them into Inquisitors. The room was designed, under instruction from Emperor Palpatine himself, to psychologically and physically drain a prisoner's will, forcing them to acquiesce to the evil indoctrination of the Inquisitorius.
So we did have a bit of snow, a couple of inches I suppose, bitterly cold today. All looks very beautiful in the back garden here as I type away and prepare to do some work. Doubtless a walk in the snow will be in order today, the dog will be like the abominable snow dog when he gets back!!
Thanks for stopping
OK....well, it's a fur-covered bum. :D
This polar bear at our zoo is actually walking along the top of the clear tunnel that we are standing under. How cute is that?!!
The minute I saw this picture I thought of the Abominable Snowman in the classic TV Christmas show "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer." Do you remember that character?
If not, see the picture below. :))
THOMAS JEFFERSON ENSLAVED 600+ AFRICAN-AMERICANS.
Thomas Jefferson helped to create a new nation based on individual freedom and self-government. His words in the Declaration of Independence expressed the aspirations of the new nation. But the Declaration did not extend “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness” to African Americans, indentured servants, or women. Thomas Jefferson drafted the Declaration and called slavery an “abominable crime,” yet he was a lifelong slaveholder.
I wasn't planning to shoot anything today given the abominable weather but did drive out to Palmer after work for the best breakfast in the state of Massachusetts at Angel's 1376 Palmer Restaurant. I watched Q436 roll by without lifting the camera but after breakfast and coffee I saw that two more were headed east back to back so figured why not.

Jeremiah 16:18 “And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because they have defiled my land, they have filled mine inheritance with the carcases of their detestable and abominable things.”
Nahum 3:6 “And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazing-stock.”
Himalayan brown bears exhibit sexual dimorphism. Males range from 1.5m up to 2.2m (5 ft - 7 ft 3in) long, while females are 1.37m to 1.83m (4 ft 6 in - 6 ft) long. They are the largest animals in the Himalayas and are usually sandy or reddish-brown in colour.
"Dzu-Teh," a Nepalese term, has also been associated with the legend of the Yeti, or Abominable Snowman, with which it has been sometimes confused or mistaken. During the Daily Mail Abominable Snowman Expedition of 1954, Tom Stobart encountered a "Dzu-Teh". This is recounted by Ralph Izzard, the Daily Mail correspondent on the expedition, in his book The Abominable Snowman Adventure. The report was also printed in the Daily Mail expedition dispatches on May 7, 1954 . However Tom Stobart was not a native of the region and his identification was merely based on a presumption that he knew an animal that he had never seen before from very ambiguous evidence. Native Tibetans deny that Dzu-Teh refers to any kind of a bear (It means "Cattle raider") and the name is used in areas where bears are not found. George Eberhart in MYSTERIOUS CREATURES, A Guide to Cryptozoology, Clio Books 2002, articles Dzu-Teh p. 151 and Dre-Mo p. 148-149, says that the problem is the result of conflating the Dzu-Teh with a different creature known as the Dre-Mo, and that one definitely is a bear. Eberhart says under the article Dzu-Teh that "there is considerable doubt that the locals made any such claim." (ibid, p. 152)

Candid eye contact street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. I stress that I do not jump out at people! I had been lining this shot up with my camera in view for 30 seconds or more, she just didn't see me until the last moment. Enjoy!
After swinging by Hinckley to see what SAPPI was up to (nothing!) as seen here: flic.kr/p/2nnp9SV I headed back to Northern Maine Junction for another stab at Pan Am train NMWA after my abominable luck on Friday.
Upon arrival I was pleased to see the crew was there and at the west end of the yard with the power that I hadn't even gotten to see on Friday. This alone was already a positive development and with the OT-1 power parked here it made for a nice side by side. While the classic Guilford painted GP40-2LW would make a nice leader I didn't consider that good old Pan Am doesn't have air conditioning on their power and with it shaping up to be the hottest day of the year so far with temps in the 90s they would certainly leave the dreaded nose door open for ventilation...but really who could blame them?!
Knowing it would be a while I took a swing down by Canadian Pacific's nearby 'farm yard' and was surprised to see no trace of the local power. This was surprising account CP normally doesn't operate around here on the weekends. A quick check with a friend revealed they'd called a rare Saturday extra to run light to Searsport to pick up some cars.
So I headed back over toward the Freight Main and when I got back I could see cars moving on the connecting track between the old Bangor and Aroostook and Maine Central. Sure enough it was the CP crew pulling that interchange they never did get on Fri as told in this caption: flic.kr/p/2nmZ8Ex
The sun was out but it was a bit earlier in the day so it was higher with the light not nearly as good as Friday's was on the old BAR sign. And with the Pan Am crew working down below I set up in hopes for an elusive over/under. And sure enough, low and behold I got a little luck! In actuality this was a LOT of luck considering normally there are no crews from either road working on a Saturday let alone both. Considering how few trains run on either road compared to the past getting both roads with live crews working is a rare feat regardless of the day. Alas, the nose door and a last minute cloud marred what would have been the shot of the year so far....I guess my good fortune could only take me so far...since it is Pan Am after all!

On track w/e 3 is OT-1's GP40-2LW/GP40 power tied for the weekend.

The Nant Ffrancon Pass in Snowdonia, North Wales, is the long steady climb of the A5 road between Bethesda, Gwynedd, and Llyn Ogwen in Conwy. The summit at 312 metres (1,024 ft) is at Pont Wern-gof, about one-third of a mile beyond the eastern end of Llyn Ogwen. From here the road descends through Nant y Benglog to Capel Curig and through to Betws-y-Coed. The A5 is the Holyhead to London trunk road, which was re-engineered by Thomas Telford between 1810 and 1826. The original road through the Nant Ffrancon was constructed by Lord Penrhyn in the late 18th century, and at Capel Curig in 1801 he built a coaching inn, which is now Plas y Brenin, the UK National Mountaineering Centre.
Nant Ffrancon itself is a steep-sided glacial valley dropping to Bethesda between the Glyderau and the Carneddau. The valley starts in Cwm Idwal, carrying water from Llyn-y-Cwn through Twll Du and Llyn Idwal to join the Ogwen Valley below the Ogwen Falls on Afon Ogwen. Unlike Lord Penrhyn's road, which largely followed the valley floor, Telford carved much of his road out of the north-eastern slopes of the Nant Ffrancon, thereby encountering difficulties in construction and future maintenance. But this enabled Telford to observe a maximum grade of 1 in 14 along the whole route from London to Holyhead in order to facilitate the operation of horse drawn mail coaches throughout.
It has been frequently used as a filming location for British film-makers, including doubling for the Khyber Pass in the Carry On film Carry On up the Khyber, and doubling for the Himalayas in the Doctor Who serial The Abominable Snowmen. The Pass was also used as a location in the 1950s film The Inn of the Sixth Happiness.

"The Emperor is convinced that when it comes to truth and reality there are no substitutions or alternatives. Something is either truthful and real or it is untruthful and unreal. For this reason he regards mythology as falsity, metaphor as double-talk, and the arts as pretty little fallacies at best, or, at worst, abominable extravagances."
