NS #8832, and C40-9
This is a very important photo to me. I have always loved trains my whole life, but whenever I moved from Naperville to Glen Carbon back in May 2002, I lost interest, as there are no railroad lines in Glen Carbon. But, in June of 2008, my brother had a softball game in northern Edwardsville, Illinois, at Hoppe Park (about 4.5 miles north of our house in Glen Carbon.) Every time whenever I would be at either Hoppe Park or the Watershed Nature Center (which is by Hoppe Park), I would hear a train come by (and see it, too, because the line goes right along the north edge of the Watershed Nature Center, with only a small line of trees between the nature center and the tracks). Well, during this particular softball game, I finally got curious enough to go to the train tracks and see one up close. When I saw this one, which was moving at 60-65 miles per hour, that helped me "renew" my interest in trains, and I now love trains more than ever before!
Click here to track where all this locomotive has been. I've found pictures of it in Montpelier, Ohio; Danville, Virginia; Centreville, Illinois; Valdosta, Georgia; Cordele, Georgia; Jersey City, New Jersey; Hammond, Indiana; Crescent Springs, Kentucky; Chattanooga, Tennessee; La Porte, Indiana; Clearing, Illinois (near Chicago); Walnut Hill, Illinois; Gary, Indiana; Chicago, Illinois; and Jacksonville, Florida! Just by looking at this list, you can see how many places this locomotive has traveled to. WOW!
This is NS 8832 locomotive pulling a train and a few other locomotives in northern Edwardsville, IL, taken with my old camera (Polaroid a520 Digital Camera) on June 12, 2008. THIS IS THE ONLY PHOTO IN MY ENTIRE PHOTOSTREAM TAKEN WITH MY OLD CAMERA! EVERY SINGLE OTHER ONE WAS TAKEN WITH MY CURRENT CAMERA. I had my dog with me at the time, and I went to the tracks while my brother was at a softball game at Hoppe Park, which is less than a mile away from this spot.
This little cutie kitten trying to look fierce, seems to be a Trixie Wannabe. Trixie is my cat picture that has over 35,500 views on Flickr. This one's name is Sugar. Sweet name for a sweet kitty. Sugar was at the Heartland Humane Society today. Doesn't look like it, but she is actually pretty friendly...
Sugar surpassed Trixie in '"favorites" but Trixie is way ahead in views.
As of this morning (April 15, 2010) Sugar is now tied for my most favorited photo with Tummy Spots at 130 favorites each. Then Sugar actually got ahead of Tummy Spots and is my most favorited picture of all with 197 faves; make that 198 Faves as of October 1, 2023, and then up to 201 faves on October 26, 2023.
"C" is for Claws

I think Squiggles was his name. I saw him today at the Humane Society, and they get so many little kittens who haven't had enough time with Mom. He's a sweet little guy though.
