As requested... it's pretty rough as I only intended it to be seen from a distance. I didn't know how legible the text would be. I should have done the spine as well but I was too lazy.
Above is a participant of the Louisville Zombie Walk. A person in a zombie costume looks like pure entertainment but there is actually a real world warning tucked into these stories of zombies. Viruses.
There's a good interview on NPR with Max Brooks, author of World War Z. He discusses how the worldwide zombie pandemic that he writes about in his book of fiction is a metaphor for coronaviruses such as SARS. Unlike a realworld coronavirus that can be airborne, in his works of fiction one must be bitten by an infected zombie to obtain the Z-virus. Despite that difference, there is a good reason that the worldwide Z virus pandemic came out of China, he says. (The movie version doesn't have it come from China.) China's desire to suppress truths that are unflattering make the well-connected country ripe to incubate world outbreaks. "This is why I based ‘World War Z’ in China because I was looking back at SARS. This is the exact pattern that happened with SARS," said the novelist and military lecturer. Brooks said we saw the coronavirus coming and could have prevented it. "We as a people, as a nation, were dismantling the systems that were put in place to keep us safe," says Brooks. "We have allowed the ship to rust underneath us."
