This outstanding building was imaginatively designed in 1998 by the Viennese painter Dr Ernst Fuchs and is used as a hotel. The signs of the zodiac can also be seen on the façade ! If you want to take a look inside, you can do so here: en.hotel-fuchspalast.at/

The locomotive was built at Swindon and completed on 19th February, 1953 at a cost of £13,756 and was initially allocated to Owestry. It spent almost its entire working life in Wales, but was transferred the the London Midland Region for maintenace on 7th July, 1962. She subsequently had Heavy Maintenace repairs at Crewe between 30th April and 1st June, 1963 probably because the locomotive was earmarked for Royal Train duties in August 1963, when the Queen visted North Wales for three days. Its duties were positioning moves and overnight steam heating of the Royal Train stock
She was withdrawn by LMR on 29th October, 1966 and arrived at Barry scrapyard in March, 1967, unusually still retaining its original boiler.

Kaum jemand weiß, dass Sankt Veit an der Glan bis 1518 die Landeshauptstadt von Kärnten war. So beschloss ich, dieser historisch bedeutenden Stadt mit vielen alten Häusern einen Besuch abzustatten. Doch den Auftakt machten wir mit einem Beispiel moderner Architektur knapp ausserhalb der Stadtmauer mit diesem Gebäude. Es wurde vom Wiener Maler Dr. Ernst Fuchs im Jahr 1998 genau so phantastisch gestaltet, wie auch seine Gemälde aussehen. Das Gebäude, das ein Kunst-Hotel beherbergt, wird im Volksmund Fuchsbau oder öfter noch Fuchs-Palast genannt. Der Kreis an der Ecke mit den Tierkreiszeichen scheint auch keine bloße Laune gewesen zu sein. Auf der Homepage des Hotels habe ich gelesen, dass zum Frühstück angeblich jeder Gast sein persönliches Tageshorskop erhält.. Kurios und interessant - aussen wie innen !
Hardly anyone knows that Sankt Veit an der Glan was the provincial capital of Carinthia until 1518. So I decided to pay a visit to this historically significant town with its many old houses. But we started with an example of modern architecture just outside the city walls with this building. It was designed by Viennese painter Dr Ernst Fuchs in 1998 to look just as fantastic as his paintings. The building, which houses an art hotel, is popularly known as the fox's den or, more often, the Fuchs (Fox) Palace. The circle on the corner with the signs of the zodiac doesn't seem to have been a mere whim either. I read on the hotel's website that every guest supposedly receives their own personalised daily horoscope for breakfast. Curious and interesting - outside and inside !
