Sandstone formation, Zion National Park, Utah. Processed with Lightroom,Photoshop and Topaz filters.

Here's an outtake from my trip to Zion last winter. Not my favorite shot, but I took it because of how the mountain was illuminated by the pre-sunset light. I abandoned this composition quickly since my intent was to shoot the Watchman and this was the only evening of the trip in which there was a good chance for sunset colors. It was my mistake to come here without first looking at compositions by @brycemironuck_photography and @alomranmha but I guess there's always a next time!

Parco Nazionale dello Zion. Istituito nel 1919 per salvaguardare quest'area costituita da un lungo canyon (24 km di lunghezza per 800 mt di profondità) scavato nei millenni dal Virgin River, che scorre nel suo fondo, e dai suoi tanti affluenti.

Zion National Park.

Massive HDR multi-row panorama shot at 70mm.

This was a ten mile hike through ankle-deep mud. We got our rental SUV stuck in the mud two miles from the trailhead; I did manage to get it unstuck but we had to walk the rest of the way. I lost a pair of hiking boots because they were too caked with thick mud to get back into my already-overpacked suitcase... but I'd do it all again for this view!!!

When we go back in 2022, we are going to hike out and spend about 4-6 hours here before we hike back.

We are planning to bring blankets, cards, and food so that we can just sit and enjoy what I consider to be the nicest spot on Earth that I have ever yet been.

Oh and I almost forgot. Max Zoom!

Zion National Park

Utah, United States of America

Zion National Park: This is looking north and the sun is rising to my right – the sun is nicely lighting up the mountainside while the sky still retains an early morning glow.

This is near the Pa'rus Trail – I walked east from the trail to avoid the trail being in the photo and to capture the valley floor

I went to Zion National Park in April. All of the apps said I would have clear skies. Well as you can see I did not get quite clear skies. I still think it is a beautiful image.

The yellow light of the clouds and the light on the Watchman come from Springdale. Some times light pollution can add to an image. Even with this image turning out I had to go back during the Nightscape Conference and try again.

Success! Clear beautiful skies and I was able to get the image I wanted.

No not that Tunnel view!!!

This is a look across at the Canyon Overlook in Zion National Park.

I was traveling through Zion to get to the back of the park which is only accomplished by a pass through the tunnel. As I sat in line waiting for my group to be signaled through, I was thinking about that big window inside.

Great it's our turn, As I moved ahead the ranger stepped forward and stopped the car right behind me. Maooooahhaha!!! The wheels in my mind started turning and a lightbulb went off. That means I would be the last car in the group through the tunnel, I could stop and really quickly run over and grab a shot through the big window then run back to the car and catch up to the group before they reached the rangers shack at the other end. I wrestled with it for a moment, I knew that I should'nt and that it's not safe, and you know that guy that sits on your shoulder reminding you about your moral fortitude, well, I didn't hear a peep out if him. As a matter of fact he reminded me to grab a vertical shot before jumping back in the car, Hehe. The "Photo Ninja" strikes again...Whaaaaaaaaaa!!!! ;)

To get an idea of the scale here, there is a fence in the crook along the skyline above and there is a woman in a pink jacket standing next to a man just to the left of that. :)

Thanks for taking the time to take a look at my photos, and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great week ahead my friends!! :)

This high dynamic range photo taken near Zion's river, the Virgin River, was the hardest to take and later blend. Let me know you thoughts on this photo.

We hiked out to Cable Mountain and looked down into the Zion Canyon. The Virgin River and the road curves around Angels Landing. There is a tiny tour bus in the lower middle of the frame.
