A return visit to the Birmingham Museum Collections Centre on another Open Day. This time I heard about a free heritage bus ride from Snow Hill Queensway, had a long wait but the bus eventually came.

And headed back for my 2nd visit. Mostly the same items I saw before, so tried to get photos of things I didn't get last time (although there maybe some repeated shots).

It was on the final day of Birmingham Heritage Week on Sunday 16th September 2018.

With everything soldered, the only thing left to do is fill the sockets with the ICs.

A lot of this was like painting by numbers backwards. Instead of finding a slot with a number in it and then opening the paint pot, you get the component and try to find the slot on the board it goes in.

Like a wordsearch for engineers.

I started off a bit OCD about getting all the resistors the same orientation, with the tolerance band on the same side.

Later on I got over that.

The 'full' 8 colours were enough for anyone back then. Even if it couldn't actually display a pie chart like that as you were only allowed 2 colours in one character block as I recall..,
