The bumble bees would not cooperate with me (see previous photos), but this humble little yellow jacket politely posed for my camera for about ten minutes. Thank you, Mr. Yellow Jacket, I will not forget your kindness when I am mowing the lawn next week. I will refrain from my usual habit of gleefully running down your friends and family while yelling "DIE, BEES, DIE!" Oh, those bumble bees or whatever they are - they are SO dead. But you yellow jackets get to live another season.
I really don't know one bee from another and I have no idea if this is a worker bee, but it's pretty damn hard to find a good song about bees and when I found some DRI lyrics, I decided to use them, for old time's sake. Spent many a night in a dingy, smelly club getting wasted, starting fights we couldn't finish and thrashing around to DRI songs.
So 20 years later I'm sitting here processing bee photos and cleaning my house while listening to Dirty Rotten Imbiciles. Some things just remain constant. Thankfully, the other things haven't. Taking photos of bees is unlikely to get me arrested. Unless I go through with my promise of going outside naked and slathered in honey....

A year ago we spent a weekend at the Carrizo Plain in central California to witness the superbloom. We also planned several photo shoots with model Chantal. Here she is walking in a field with yellow flowers.
The title is a quote by a famous painter. Guess who?
I processed a photographic and a balanced HDR photo from a RAW exposure, blended them, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, and added a Silver Efex Pro 2 filter for this classic look. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

Not as colourful as some of its relatives, the coal tit has a distinctive grey back, black cap, and white patch at the back of its neck. Its smaller, more slender bill than blue or great tits means it can feed more successfully in conifers. A regular visitor to most feeders, they will take and store food for eating later.
In winter they join with other tits to form flocks which roam through woodlands and gardens in search of food.

One break you’ll find tucked away in the Southern California’s shoreline is called Sunset Cliffs. This spot is a magical haven of hidden caves and glorious little reef peaks that lead to some beautiful sandy lagoons. Sunset Cliffs Beach is a San Diego local’s favorite spot to catch some waves, watch the sunset, and enjoy a beach picnic, just be careful of getting splashed if the swell is pumping!
With over 2 miles long of beach bluffs and panoramic views, Sunset Cliffs produces some glassy barrels when the tide is low and the kelp beds and sandy bottom form the perfect beach break. But sometimes these waves come at a price because let me tell you, walking down to this surf is a journey in itself, part of the reason why this break is so mystical.
Today has been a little hectic with regards to my 500px account being deleted. It has now been fully reinstated and my follower count across all Social Media platforms increased dramatically thanks to articles on www.lightpaintingphotography.com, Petapixel and DIY Photography.net. about my predicament. Much appreciated to all involved and a little win for the lesser known photographic technique of light painting.
I caught Riley plowing through his own body weight in Strawberries. "You'll turn into a bloody strawberry" Is the kind of thing I catch myself saying to Riley which reminds me of the kinds of thing my parents used to say to me when I was overindulging.
Back-lit me about to eat a Strawberry then a tripod swap to the Strawberry on the table, focus and aperture change and lit using a small focused torch then a quick sweep with the LP Brushes blue filter and hood attachment.

I am in a non stop perfect bread sandwich quest ... with this recipe you'll get light breads, very tender .
they also go very well with a tajine. I am baking a new bath and test how they turn as pressed sandwiches.
as usual : I use the bread machine . you -of course- can use the conventional method ...
ingredients for 8 big pains ... I often divide the recipe by 2 .....
800 gr bread flour
500 ml water
1 package active dry yeast
1 tea sp salt
2 table sp olive oil
seeds : sesame, carvi, anis, poppy .... or herbs ...
- pour all the ingredients int the breadmachine, make sure yeast is not in contact with salt.
- Select dough cycle.
-After the dough has doubled in size turn it out onto a lightly floured surface, punch dough a little. let stand for a few minutes.
- prepare les pains : make dough balls and roll them [the size and shape you want]. I usually make 1cm thick / 6 to 10 cm diameter circles... don't forget they will rise again .
- place them on a baking pan covered with baking sheet .Brush the tops of the rounds with some olive oil, and you seeds or/and herbs mix and let rest for 45 minutes.
now you can put them for 15 to 20 minutes in you preheated oven (180°C) or warm a large frying pan to medium heat...it's up to you ...I tried both several times but I really prefer the oven option : they come out beautiful .

At our house you have to get to the livingroom directly after dinner or you loose your chance to find any empty seating!
Whitburn and the neighbouring Marsden both have some quite wonderful stretches of coastline.All around you'll find seastacks,arches and caves,aswell as some great rock formations and little sand stretches in between.Its the first time a few of us had ventured down here and i can guarantee we'll all return at some stage in the future.Such is the appeal and the oppourtunities offered at different tide heights we'd be foolish not to.
With the tide making its way out we were able to get around the arches with plenty of time left before sunrise.This was one of my first shots with the retreating water starting to reveal the submerged rocks.It wasn't long after this shot was taken,that we had to take cover as those clouds moving in from the sea were to bring a heavy snow shower.

British artist, Sophie Ryder, is renowned for her large-scale open-air sculptures of animals and mystical hybrid creatures. Among her cast of characters, the Ladyhare features often, either alone or paired with her male counterpart, the Minotaur. Best known for her works in twisted wire, the artist also sculpts in bronze, plaster, and marble.
Her solo exhibition filling all three spaces of the Djanogly Gallery offers a more intimate glimpse into Ryder’s studio practice including a selection of smaller-scale sculptures and maquettes, alongside drawings and prints of her favoured subjects. The installation Temple to the 200 Rabbits – guaranteed to be a sure-fire success with our youngest visitors – commands a gallery of its own.
Sophie Ryder is a British sculptor known for her large wire structures. Ryder uses materials including bronze, wet plaster embedded with found materials, sheet metal, marble, and stained glass. Additionally, her artistic practice includes drawing, painting and printmaking as a counterpoint to her sculptural work.
