I photographed this active little Annas Hummingbird years ago at my sister's house where she had set up a sugar dispensary for the tiny terrors.
Lighting stuff. I used a six strobe setup to photograph this tiny terror. I learned the lighting from a book by Linda Robbins called The Hummingbird Guide. Her method is to use a minimum of 5 to 6 strobes, a supplied background (which you have to provide), and photograph the birds in the shade so that you don't have to overpower the sunlight. When you use multiple strobes on a subject in the shade you can use lower power settings for each flash which results in shorter flash duration which means it freezes the wing blur. I used a total of 6 Yongnuo manual strobes. One strobe was pointed at the background, one was underneath the feeder, and the other 4 strobes surrounded the feeder. The strobes were all at about 1/16th power, in manual mode, and were triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N., and you can see the EXIF info on the side. This is the only way I've ever been able to photograph one of these birds without wing blur.
I've taken quite a few pictures of hummers over the years and put them an album creatively called Hummingbirds.

As I stated in my previous post, I attended a yoga class held in a Quaker Friends Meeting House in Trenton on Saturday morning. The building is old and is located in a seedier area of Trenton but the inside of the Meeting House was incredibly inviting and appealing to me. This is a windowsill in the empty upstairs room where the class was held.

captured through the protective plastic sheet of the terrace at the charming old restaurant "el bungalow" in ciudad jardin, this image offers a serene yet surreal glimpse of a beach yoga class. the silhouettes of the participants, with their arms raised in various poses, blend harmoniously with the calm sea backdrop, creating a captivating dance of light and shadow. the juxtaposition of the outdoor scene with the empty tables and chairs of the restaurant adds a layer of quiet introspection, reminding us of the moments of stillness and mindfulness that exist amidst our daily routines.
On Saturday I went to a yoga class held in a Quaker Friends Meeting House in a seedier area of Trenton. It was early in the morning and extremely foggy. The streets were empty with many buildings being abandoned. Outside was about as unappealing as you could get but as soon as you stepped inside the Meeting House a feeling of quiet, safe, peace came over me. The class meets only once a month but I definitely plan to go back. The class was held upstairs in an open, empty room next to the kitchen. I couldn't help myself. Before the class started, I excused myself to "use the restroom" and took a bunch of pictures of the building with my phone. This is the kitchen windowsill. If you look out the window, you can see my cute Fiat in the parking lot.

I find the experience of being in this facility very moving. It’s quite poignant…
