“So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.” Colossians 2:16,17

Colossians is saying;
We are to keep God's festivals as they are a prophetic voice of future events,-(a shadow of things to come) as YHVH has His appointed times-Moed
What was unclean=not food is still not food into the coming kingdom. From the oral law that was given to Noah through the law given to Moses for all Israel, continues through to the coming kingdom of Yeshua- Genesis 66:17 Micah chp 4)
Acts 10:9-28 is talking about 'men' and not food, God was not getting Peter to break His laws, Acts 10:17-28)
Mark 7:7-23 is talking about the heart of man
'purging all foods' food is food as given in Leviticus chp 11 and Deuteronomy chp 14 unclean is not food. This is where food is sanctified by the Word of God and by thanksgiving in prayer, as stated in- 1 Timothy 4:4,5

When the LORD returns, eating swine's flesh the abomination and the mouse= all unclean, not food -Isaiah 66:17 will face God's judgment Leviticus 11:7,29. to eat these things is sin.

The Brown Scapular is one of the most popular sacramentals in the Catholic Church, combining the faith of the wearer with the promises of Our Lady. I like to think of it, respectfully, much like the Rosary, as a sort of tin can telephone to God. He who wears the scapular over his shoulders proclaims his devotion to God and to Our Lady and in practice he echoes the habit of the Carmelite Order, the custodians of this devotion.
The church of Saint-Pierre de Chaillot was a gem of a find on a walkabout on our first full day in Paris.
This figure of Yeshua held my attention and I've tried here to capture the mood as closely as I can with a low exposure to minimize the lighting and a POV from me sitting on the floor to take the shot.
It's in our nature to empathize with the human figure. I remember walking alone amongst Antony Gormley's iron men gazing out to sea on Crosby beach near Liverpool with a similar sense of presence.
It's only imagery stimulating the imagination but here, with this powerful vision before me in this beautiful place that resembled something more ancient and mysterious than a modern day church I wondered how it might have felt to be in his presence.

Sabbath is from Friday evening to Saturday evening. The Sabbath is kept in the coming kingdom- Isaiah 66:23. Yeshua is Lord of the Sabbath. Gen 20:8-11) Don't let anybody judge you in keeping Sabbath, new moon etc. Colossians 2:16) The sabbath is perpetual from Genesis to the coming kingdom of Yeshua, the law also will go forth from Jerusalem. Feast of Tabernacles in the coming kingdom & passover- Feast of unleavened bread will all be observed/kept. Same as dietary laws Leviticus 11;7 & Isaiah 66:17 are all required to be kept when Yeshua returns.

The phrase "help meet" in Genesis 2:18 is a translation of the Hebrew term ezer kenegdo, which literally means "a helper suitable for him" or "a helper corresponding to him."
Ezer: This word denotes help, rescue, or strength. It is not limited to menial tasks; it is frequently used in the Old Testament to describe God’s powerful assistance to humanity, indicating that the role implies great strength and essential support rather than subordination.
Kenegdo: This term means "corresponding to," "equal to," or "suitable for." It signifies a partner who is a counterpart or complement to the man, fitting him perfectly rather than duplicating him.
Modern translations often render this as "a helper fit for him" (ESV) or "a helper comparable to him" (NKJV). The concept emphasizes that the woman was created as an equal partner and essential companion to remedy the man's solitude, providing unique strength and wisdom that he lacked.
The Church of England was the established religion of the colony in Van Diemen's Land. Many of the working class convicts were Roman Catholics (we'll see their church tomorrow), but the ruling class were all nominally at least, Anglicans.
St Luke's Anglican Church in Richmond was built in 1834 of sandstone from the same quarry where the stones for the Richmond Bridge came from. Its story is told here:

Just an indication that the early structures of the colony were built on the backs of convict (slave) labour. I hope that the ethics of Christianity has changed considerably since then (even worse when you think that the then Governor, George Arthur, was an evangelical Christian), but then looking at the state of play in the world today, I am left with my doubts. The Jesus of (white) power structures and money, has nothing at all to do with the true teachings of Yeshua from Nazareth:
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ (Matthew 7:21-23).
No, this is not pinhole. But I had to show you this beautiful interior. This church was built in 1885 to replace the old Wesleyan Chapel of the Methodist Church. The window on the left has some beautiful stained glass that dates from 1884. It was a gift by former students of Horton College. This college was run by the church and existed not far down the road. The motifs are fascinating and I've never seen this combination of biblical figures together like this before. There is the calling of the young boy Samuel to be a prophet in Israel (1 Samuel 3), and then on the other side is the raising of young Timothy (Paul's apostolic protégé) by his mother Eunice and his grandmother Lois. Timothy went on to become a bishop in the early church.
In the middle is another young man fresh from his Bar Mitzvah who showed wisdom far beyond his years when he debated with the Jewish theologians in the Temple at the age of 12: His name was Yeshua ben Joseph. We know him as Jesus.

Yeshua is the same yesterday today and forever
Two main scriptures to meditate on
Isaiah 53:1-5) Matthew 8:16,17) Yeshua bore our sins, and He bore our sicknesses and infirmities.
Pray for Ephesians 1:17 as it's the revelation of His Word that brings about personal healing, as we meditate in Ish 53:4,5) and Matt 8:16,17) and the Spirit of God reveals to us that Yeshua bore this sickness and we begin to believe His report, and we enjoy this benefit. Also if the sick condition is caused by a spirit, the spirit must be first cast out to experience healing. Always go back to the Word of God and meditate day and night in it. His Word is health to all our flesh. A prophetic word by Yeshua/Jesus Luke 13:32 And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected. Remember one day is as a thousand years with the LORD and a thousand years as one day. 2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. So Yeshua speaking in a prophetic sense, will be doing cures-(healings) for 2000 years--2 days, and on the third day He will set up His throne in Jerusalem.

In a world where so many of us feel disconnected, judged, or overlooked, Yeshua reminds us that no one is ever truly alone. Whether we struggle with feelings of inadequacy, loneliness, or the weight of our past, we are never beyond the reach of His love. In our busy, often isolating lives, He approaches us with compassion, offering not ruin but redemption, not rejection but belonging, not condemnation but forgiveness.
Just as He reached out to the woman who had been shunned and despised by her community, Yeshua invites each of us into a life of meaning, purpose, and community. He shows us that the deepest thirst of all is quenched only by the living water He offers.
A GLASS OF MILK
One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry.
He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door.
Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water! . She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it so slowly, and then asked, 'How much do I owe you?'
'You don't owe me anything,' she replied. 'Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness.'
He said .. 'Then I thank you from my heart.'
As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.
Many years later that same young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease.
Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes.
Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room.
Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once.
He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to her case.
After a long struggle, the battle was won.
Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill. She read these words ...
'Paid in full with one glass of milk'

The good deed you do today may benefit you or someone you love at the least expected time. If you never see the deed again at least you will have made the world a better place - And, after all, isn't that what life is all about?

Although I spent much time at the Western Wall photographing the sites, I also spent quite a bit of time in prayer as well. Here, I passed my camera off to someone and asked them to take a photo of me.
It is difficult to fully describe my time in Israel. In many ways, I feel as if I was "home." As an evangelical Christian, I share my foundations with the Jewish people, for my origins as a Christian are from Judaism. I believe in and follow the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I study and follow the Old Testament as well as the New.
I like this photo because here I can pray side by side with my Jewish brethren. I am reminded of the words of the Apostle Paul in Romans, where he states,
"But I am speaking to you who are Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle of Gentiles, I magnify my ministry" But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became partaker with them of the rich root of the olive tree, do not be arrogant toward the branches; but if you are arrogant, remember that it is not you who supports the root, but the root supports you." --Romans 11:13, 17, 18, NASB
Clearly, as a Gentile and as a Christian, I am the wild olive who is "grafted in" to a covenant relationship with the God of Israel. The Jewish people are the "branches." Although I believe in Yeshua (Jesus) as the promised Messiah, and although Jews would disagree vehemently with me on that point, I still believe that the Jewish people are God's chosen people, and God will continue to have a plan for them.
I am just thankful to be grafted in.
Sometimes, before I delete a piece I've kept around (spring cleaning), I opt to try some processing first. Occasionally I reconsider. I'm putting it out there. Not sure how I feel about the results. If it gets ignored I'll probably pull it down.

In March of 2003 my sister invited me to her Arabic church because they were playing a play called Heaven or Hell. I went to it, and in of the final scenes one of the actresses was so shouting of joy “Jesus! My Jesus! Hallelujah, it’s my Jesus!” over and over again as the character of Jesus appeared on the stage. I wondered then how many more people in the world there are that are in love with Jesus just as I am and even more? (Of course, I have not always been in love with Jesus; it seems that it is an on and off love affair at times!)
Few months before I came to Canada in late of 1999 I accepted Jesus as my personal Saviour and Lord, and that proved crucial to my well being here. You see, as a teenager who is an introvert by nature, and who just made a complete cultural change all the way from Iraq to Canada I grew more depressed by the year. I can’t tell you the number of times I wished I could die; thanks God because being a passive person meant I never acted on those feelings. But the main reason I did not act on those feelings because some relatives of mine here in Canada strongly oppose God, Jesus and Christianity as a whole. They launch at every opportunity to scoff at God, His Word, His children, and His works. I knew that if I ever committed suicide then they would have an excellent opportunity to belittle Christians—God’s followers. And to be honest, they would have all the right to do so, because our Lord Jesus Christ said that we will be known by the fruit we bear. So the idea that I could cause the name of Jesus to be ridiculed by even trying to take my life kept me from doing so in those difficult years.
Early in my Christian life I never understood “older” Christians when they talked about how they couldn’t wait to be joined with Jesus in heaven. But as I grew more to know Him I realized that’s my ultimate heart’s desire too. I wonder how many people died with the name of Jesus on their lips; I wonder how many people died with a smile on their face.
Here is the most documented man in history, yet we don’t even know his hair colour! All we know is that he looked like a Middle Eastern Jew. We don’t even know how tall he was, yet billions fell in love with Him, worshipped Him, and were raped, tortured, ridiculed, oppressed, jailed, mutilated, and persecuted in every imaginable way, and even died for His name’s sake.
Do you know what I always wondered about Jesus? The ease he could make people relate to Him! Black slaves sang praises to His name while doing heavy labour to their white “masters” knowing fully well that Jesus was a “white” man too. Women relate to Him as if He is their best friend—and He is indeed! Children talk to Him as if He was their school buddy—and yes, His spirit does go to school with them! Elderly men and women cry out to Him calling Him “Master”, “Lord”, and “God”, yet our mental image of Him while He was on earth is of a man in his early 30s! All that possible because of His divinity, and the love He showed us on earthy by dying on the cross in our places. A love that trespasses gender, race, nationality, age, and “social standing”. People all over the world fall in love with Him every second not because of His hair colour or how tall He was, but because He is their God and He is perfect, but more importantly He showed (and still shows daily) that He is also perfectly in love with them.
