The New Mosque (Turkish: Yeni Cami) is an Ottoman imperial mosque located in the Eminönü quarter of Istanbul. Situated on the Golden Horn, Yeni Cami is a notable Istanbul landmark.
The Yeni Camii (New Mosque) in Istanbul, built between 1597-1665, was commissioned by Safiye Sultan, the mother of Sultan Mehmed III. Located near the Golden Horn, it symbolizes Ottoman imperial power and the influence of royal women. Its large central dome, intricate tilework, and prominent location highlight the empire’s architectural grandeur. The mosque played a significant social role, with adjacent markets and charitable complexes, and remains a key cultural landmark in Istanbul.
Mezquita nueva o Yeni Camii, en Eminönü, Estambul. Fue iniciada en 1597, por un decreto de Safiye Sultan, mujer del sultán Murad III, con diseño del arquitecto Mimar Davud Ağa, y se terminó en 1663.

The New Mosque (Yeni Camii), formerly the Valide Sultan Mosque, near the southern tip of the Galata Bridge, in Istanbul, Türkiye (nee Turkey).
The mid-17th Century mosque sits at the edge of the Golden Horn, and its design is partly based on that of the Blue Mosque. The tower on the right hand side of the shot is not the Galata tower, it is the Beyazıt Tower, an early 19th century fire watchtower, on the campus of Istanbul University.
Taken with my Nikon D40, fitted with a Tamron 70-300mm F4/5.6 DI LD (Nikon AFS) lens and processed in GIMP and Photoscape.
