The Maastaxi system in Rotterdam is operational since December 2002. The project was realised in co-operation with he Maastaxi company (founded by two well known Rotterdam hotel/restaurant entrepreneurs) and the Municipality of Rotterdam. The municipality was responsible for the construction of the 30 landing stages which are situated over a distance of 8 kilometers alongside the river banks and harbours in between Schiedam and Rotterdam-Feijenoord.

The boats were designed and built in Rotterdam (design: Proforma Design, builder: Devo) and can carry up to 8 persons. They are powered by a Yanmar 360 hp engine. Their service speed is 50 – 60 km/h. The boat cruises in ‘plané’. Its price: some 160.000 €.

This fast aluminium jol (yawl) is used to transport pilots from the pilot boat on station to the seagoing vessel that wants to enter the harbour. They are waterjet (Hamilton) propulsed, relatively powerful (Yanmar 240 kW), are highly manoeuvrable yet stable and can reach up to 30 knots (55 km/h).

There’s a crew of two and room for 4 pilots. The Dutch Loodswezen (Pilots organization) owns 8 of these boats, together they form the ´P-class´.

Compadre is a 43-foot bridge-deck cruiser built in 1929 to a design by Stevens Brothers in Stockton, California. Her hull is Port Orford cedar on white oak frames, and her house is solid teak. She was originally powered by twin 6-cylinder Lathrop Mystic gasoline engines and was recently re-powered with twin 80hp Yanmar diesels. Her interior layout and cabinetry are nearly all original. She was built for Mr. Leland Adams of San Francisco, a vice-president of Leslie Salt Co. She spent many years cruising the sheltered waters of San Francisco Bay and the San Juaquin River delta. She relocated to the Pacific Northwest in 2007. Compadre is her original name.

Tally Ho is a gaff-rigged cutter yacht designed by Albert Strange. The 48 ft yacht was built in 1910 at Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex in England. While still based in Southampton until the 1960s, Tally Ho made multiple transatlantic crossings. Later she worked as a fishing boat out of Brookings, Oregon, until 1987. By 2017 she had nearly rotted away. She was sold it to an English boatbuilder to be completely refit. Seven years later, in June 2024, , Tally Ho sailed into Port Townsend Bay.

A very nice brand new rubber tracked machine in the middle of subsoil work

in an old plot of vines that is very very steep in its slope,

His job is to drive the teeth of the excavator into the soil in order to loosen it, it is a deep ploughing technique between 30 and 60 cm that does not turn the earth, a job that I followed for a few minutes, with each move I had the impression that it was going to spill

At Yutate-zaka.

This slope has a history as a path of worship to a shrine on the other side of the valley at the end of it.

The shrine is said to have been built in 473 AD. Since a river flowed through the valley and it was impossible to cross, a ritual was performed on this slope where a priestess would boil water, make bubbles, dip them in bamboo leaves, and pour the bubbles over the worshippers. This ritual is called "Yutate". Sixteen centuries later, people continue to maintain this slope.

HMS Magpie is the 9th. Royal Navy vessel to carry the name. She was named in recognition of the Duke of Edinburgh’s command of her namesake in the early 1950's, and the Duke personally endorsed Magpie’s motto, 'Lux in tenebris lucet' (shine light into darkness), shortly before his passing.

Magpie is a survey vessel of the RN’s Hydrographic Squadron, intended for use on inshore and coastal survey work.

Magpie has better endurance than her predecessor, HMS Gleaner H86, and her equipment is significantly improved. She also has the capability to launch and recover unmanned underwater vehicles (UUV).

One of Magpie's first major taskings was a continuation of work done by Gleaner in surveying Portsmouth Harbour to ensure the stability of the seabed in anticipation of Portsmouth's use by the aircraft carriers Queen Elizabeth R08 and Prince of Wales R09.

Once the work in Portsmouth harbour was completed, Magpie headed to the wreck site of the Mary Rose, Henry VIII's flagship, to survey the sea floor for anything of significance. Work then begin on investigating the wreck of a French galley which was lost off the north-east coast of the Isle of Wight around the same time as the Mary Rose.

As Magpie is considerably larger than Gleaner, the title of smallest commissioned vessel in the Royal Navy, which Gleaner held, passed to the two Scimitar class patrol vessels, HMS Scimitar, P284 and HMS Sabre, P285.
