In 1670 the first temple built in Xico was completed, under the advocation of Santa María Magdalena.
In 1772 the current church was inaugurated, with a baroque and neoclassical style, although it maintains details of the architecture of the sixteenth century.
28 November, 1772, the church received the degree of parish by the Bishop of Puebla, Francisco Fabián y Fuero.
In 2005 the temple was listed as a historical monument by Mexico's National Institute of Anthropology and History.

This is the city gazebo in Parque Revolución de Teocelo. with a small coffee cafe in the base.
Teocelo s surrounded by lush, mountainous terrain and is noted for its production of coffee.
