"The Running Room Jacket Brigade"
I remember the first time that I walked into the Running Room on a Sunday morning in January. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Almost everyone there was wearing a Running Room jacket. Walkers and runners of all distances were wearing the famous unisex jacket. I wondered if they were magic jackets. Would my performance be enhanced if I wore one? “Wow,” I remember thinking, “I want one”.
I could have simply purchased my own jacket that day. I had the money (and a store coupon in my pocket). But, I decided that it might be more exciting if I ‘earned’ my jacket. If I continued attending my practice sessions and if I signed up for the goal race, I would buy the jacket as my reward.
Every week, I would look at the large display of jackets in the store and I would grow even more excited about reaching my goals.
During the second to last week of my Learn to Run clinic, I strutted into the Kanata store. It was the big day. I was now going to combine my two passions: running and shopping. (Does life get any better than that? I don't think so.) I went immediately to the rack and picked up the red Running Room jacket that I had been eyeing for weeks. Nathan, the store manager, told me that I was the most excited person that he has ever seen about my purchase. Well, I had a good reason. To me, buying the jacket signified ‘being’ a runner.
I feel marvelous when I put on my running jacket. I suppose like anything else, if you feel good, you have more fun doing it.
Those that run with me are amazed that I am still wearing my jacket to train. They are right that some days it is a bit too warm for the extra layer. While they are wearing their quick-dry t-shirts, I am still wearing my Running Room jacket with pride. I know that I will eventually need to put it away until fall, but I am going to try and prolong my jacket-wearing season for as long as possible.
I enjoy being a part of what I have nicknamed the “Running Room Jacket Brigade,” even if during the warm spring days, I might be the only member.

Well, this is the design I've been working on and off of for about 8 months - the markup is a little nicer with reduced usage of divs and classes. There are probably some places this could be improved further, which it may be by the time I finally make this design live.
One of the biggest changes here is that it now uses a feed from Flickr in place of the "Spotlight" which had photo's I had to upload to my site separately - so this makes it easier to get photo's onto my site. The footer at the minute is still pretty much as it was in version 5, but I feel it may have a few subtle changes made after go-live.
Please feel free to comment.
