The marathon runners appear to be highly focused on the upcoming race. They've been training for months, most running 4-6 times a week, and now is the time to show some results.

I can see one person (only 1 !) in this picture who's wearing the purple and yellow official race shirt. Other runners will wait and wear it only after they've "earned" the shirt by finishing the race.

The Orphan Foundation collects hand knit scarves to include in their Valentine's Day care packages to foster kids in college. It's a fun charity knitting project.

Pattern: your basic garter stitch, 20 stitches wide, I think.

Yarn: I collected a bunch of red scraps at a yarn swap. I tied them end to end and carried a soft orangey-red eyelash yarn along with it. Quite cozy.
